What Is Sin? Sin Is Not What
You Think
(Romans 3:23 Explained)
By ApplyGod’sWord.com/Mark
Ballenger
“ …Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right by
executing just and righteous judgment?’” Genesis 18:25b
“The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in
heaven. His eyes see, His eyelids test
the children of men. The Lord tests the
righteous and the wicked, and His soul hates the malevolent one who loves
violence.
“Upon the wicked and godless He will rain coals of fire;
fire and brimstone and a dreadful scorching wind will be the portion of their
cup of doom. For the Lord is absolutely
righteous, He loves righteousness, virtue, morality and justice; the upright
shall see His face.” Psalm 11:4-6
“God must always judge sin.
His justice is not blind; His holiness demands the death penalty. Because God knows all things. His judgment is righteous.[1]”
Although sin is common nature, we rationalise sinful
behaviour. It is justified at the
moment, an accident or we relate self-behaviour to that of another’s behaviour
that is equal to ours or worse
Sin -- little or small, secret or in the open, accidental,
or purposeful – is sin regardless. What
unites us all is that none of us resists temptation or willful sinning. God is holy and cannot look on sin.
Because of our sin, God finds us guilty -- the penalty for
all and any sin is eternal punishment. And even though that may seem unfair, it is
because of God’s pure holiness that this is necessary. What CAN set us free? (Read tomorrow’s
devotion for THE answer.)
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you each day)
