Resolution of...

"Then the remnant of Jacob will be among many peoples like dew from the Lord, like showers on vegetation which do not wait for man or delay for the sons of men.

"And the remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, among many peoples like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which, if he passes through, tramples down the tears, and there is none to rescue.

Your hand will be lifted up against your adversaries, and all your enemies will be cut off."  Micah 7-9

As we see 2013 end and a New Year begin, we can make many "resolutions", yet the one that matters is a "resolution of recreation and responsibility"; a weeping with the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ for those lost around us.  What CAN matter more in this New Year?

"The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up." II Peter 3:9-10

His Purpose

"And this One will be our peace.  When the Assyrian invades our land, when he tramples on our citadels, then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight leaders of men.  And they will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword.  The land of Nimrod at its entrances; and He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he attacks our land and when he tramples our territory." Micah 5:5-

Things happen all around us that sometimes leave us speechless with wonder, with fear, with shock and concern.  Yet in the heart of every Christian there is a storehouse of peace that makes no sense at all.  It holds us together so others may wonder at the Source of our strength.  His purpose is to fulfil His amazing plan of salvation and use us in the meantime, weak and flawed as we may be, to draw others to His message and His Son!

"'These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you.  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.  Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you;  not as the world gives, do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.'" John 14:22-27

Seemingly Insignificant

"'Therefore, He will give them up until the time when she who is in labour has born a child.  Then the remainder of His brethren will return to the sons of Israel.

"'And He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God.  And they will remain, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth.

"'And this One will be our peace.'" Micah 5:3-5a

God is not fooled or surprised by our wandering away from His love, and He waits to welcome us home as the father of the Prodigal son...to rush to us and embrace us.  That is His desire ... and it is our heart's desire if we listen to our hearts.

It is the time of the year to remember God's remarkable plan that started innocently enough with prophecy throughout time and culminated in the birth of a seemingly insignificant child, in a seemingly insignificant town.  Isn't God neat to remind us how critical the seemingly insignificant is!

"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, 'Where is He who has been born King of the Jews?  For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.'

"And when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.  And gathered together all the chief priests and the scribes of the people, he began to inquire of them where the Christ was to be born.

And they said to him, 'In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it has been written by the prophet, 'And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means the least among the leaders of Judah; for out of you shall come forth a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.'" Matthew 2:1-6

O Little Town

"'Now muster yourselves in troops, daughter of troops; they have laid siege against us; with a rod they will smite the judge of Israel on the cheek.

"'But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel.  His goings forth are from long ago; from the days of eternity.'" Micah 5:1-2

A little, insignificant man, from a little, insignificant farm town, was called by God to go and serve Him as His sanctified prophet and servant for His purposes.  He was called go far away to a big town, where big, important men did not care to listen.  Yet the Lord is always working His plan for His glory and His purpose.

The fact is, He does the same with you and me, out of the smallest of places; through the seemingly most insignificant of hearts come His messages of hope and love and peace to others.  He is calling you right now...

Knowing the Future

"'And now many nations have been assembled against you who say, 'Let her be polluted, and let our eyes gloat over Zion.'  But they do not know the thoughts of the Lord, and they do not understand His purpose; for He has gathered them like sheaves to the threshing floor.

"'Arise and thresh, daughter of Zion, for your horn I will make iron and your hoofs I will make bronze that you may pulverize many peoples, that you may devote to the Lord their unjust gain and their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.'" Micah 4:11-13

Can you imagine Micah telling the leaders of their future?  Can you imagine what the leaders were thinking?

When my Mom was in the hospital for the last time, she made a statement that was so important.  It was that if she had known the future, she would have taken better care of her body.

God has told us our future; personal future and the future of this amazing world He created for us.  What might you do different today, knowing of His love for you and those around you and the plans He has for our world?

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene

Wounds and Healing

"'In that day,' declares the Lord, 'I will assemble the lame, and gather the outcasts, even those whom I have afflicted.  I will make the lame a remnant, and the outcasts a strong nation, and the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion from now on and forever.

"'And as for you, tower of the flock, hill of the daughter of Zion, to you it will come -- even the former dominion will come, the kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem.'" Micah 4:6-8

"'See now that I, I am He, and there is no god besides Me; it is I who put to death and give life.  I have wounded, and it is I who heal; and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.'" Deuteronomy 32:39

God has a plan.  It is inevitable, not because He is mean or because He just doesn't understand what it is like living a "real people"!  He LIVED as a real person and He aches to have a personal relationship with you and He will do whatever is necessary to draw you close to Him.

Sometimes we run from Him because we feel so inadequate, insecure, incapable, lost, wrong, weak.  Yet, God uses each of us for His work in ways we cannot understand and most times never suspect or know.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene

Exclusiveness of Peace

"And He will judge between many peoples and render decisions for mighty, distant nations.  Then they will hammer their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  Nations will not lift up sword against nation, and never again will they train for war.

"And each of them will sit under his vine and under his fig tree.  With no one to make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken.  Though all the peoples walk each in the name of his god, as for us, we will walk in the name of the Lord our God forever and ever." Micah 4:3-5

Every day, if we see or hear the news, we know how nations war against nations, neighbors against neighbors, families fight internally, atrocities are common and the world is increasingly desensitised to the sadness and horror that sounds it.

All around us people seek peace as if it was their right, yet only those whose hearts are owned and guarded by the Lord Jesus Christ can know the peace that passes all understanding.

"'And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me; and concerning judgments, because the ruler of the world has been judged.'" John 18:8-11

Streaming Now or Soon?

"And it will come about in the last days that the mountain of the house of the Lord will be establishes as the chief of the mountains.  It will be raised above the hills, and the people will stream to it.

"And many nations will come and say, 'Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob that He may teach us about His ways and that we may walk in His paths.'  For from Zion will go forth the law, even the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem." Micah 4:1-2

In the church there seems to be cycles of teaching.  The teaching of the Second Coming is not as popular today as it once way, but do not for a moment forget that all of this we see around us -- all that we experience -- has a purpose.

First is to grow us into the image of Christ.  Second is that because of our trusting, Christ-like lives, others will be drawn to "stream to Him".  No one knows the timing, but it is always sooner rather than later, but it never seems close enough some times.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
