CAN'T LIVE WITH GOD

“Now I will arise’, says the Lord, ‘Now I will be exalted, now I will be lifted up.  You have conceived chaff, you will give birth to stubble; My breath will consume you like a fire.  The peoples will be burned to lime, like cut thorns which are burned in the fire.  You who are far away, hear what I have done; and you who are near, acknowledge My might.’

“Sinners in Zion are terrified; trembling has seized the godless.  Who among us can live with the consuming fire?  Who among us can live with continual burning?

“He who walks in righteousness and speaks with sincerity, he who rejects unjust gain and shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; he who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking upon evil; he will dwell on the heights, his refuge will be the impregnable rock; his bread will be given him, his water will be sure.”  Isaiah 33:11-16

The sinners Isaiah was talking with realised they couldn’t live in the presence of the holy God because He is like a fire that consumes evil.  Only those who walk righteously and speak what is right can live with God.

The examples we can use to demonstrate our righteousness and uprightness:  Don’t extort or bribe others.  Stay away from gossip.  Do not look on evil.  Be honest and fair in our relationships.  All these behaviours help others wonder what is different about us in a world that has, for the most part, lost the plot.  God supplies our needs.

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12-13

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

THIS WAY! HURRY!

“Return to Him from whom you have deeply defected, O sons of Israel.  For in that day every man will cast away his silver idols and his gold idols, which your sinful hands have made for you as a sin.

“And the Assyrian will fall by the sword not of man, and a sword not of man will devour [consume] him.  So he will not escape the sword, and his young men will become forced labourers.

“’His rock will pass away because of panic, and his princes will be terrified at the standard,’ declares the Lord, whose fire is in Zion and whose furnace is in Jerusalem.” Isaiah 31:6-9

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.’” John 14:6

There is so much going on in our lives.  So many things to do.  So many decisions.  So many directions to go, choices to make.  So little time and too many distractions.

No wonder you may feel exhausted.  Perhaps it is a perfect time to stop and consider the direction you are going, what you are pursuing and most of all, who you are following.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

REPETITION - REPETITION - REPETITION

“Or let him rely on My protection, let him make peace with Me, let him make peace with Me.’  In the days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will blossom and sprout, and they will fill the whole world with fruit.

“’Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has He struck them?  Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?  You contended with them by banishing them, by driving them away.  With His fierce wind He has expelled them on the day of the east wind.

“’Therefore through this Jacob’s iniquity will be forgiven’ and this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin:  When he makes all the altar stones like pulverised chalk stones; when Asherim and incense altars will not stand.

“’For the fortified city is isolated, a homestead forlorn and forsaken like the desert; there the calf will graze and there it will lie down and feed on [consume] its branches.” Isaiah 27:5-10

In the Bible, you may notice places where words or phrases are repeated.  This was the way those who were speaking / writing emphasised something that was important.  Any time you see this, pay particular attention to what is being said!

[Jesus speaking] “’Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.  I am the bread of life.  Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and died.  This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.

“’I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I give for the life of the world is My flesh.’” John 6:47-51

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

CLOSE THE DOOR

“O Lord, Thy hand is lifted up yet they do not see it.  They see Thy zeal for the people and are put to shame.  Indeed fire will devour [consume] Thine enemies.  Lord Thou will establish peace for us, since Thou hast also performed for us all our works.  O Lord our God, other masters besides Thee have ruled us; but through Thee alone we confess Thy name …

“ … Come, my people, enter into your rooms, and close your doors behind you; hide for a little while, until indignation runs its course.  For behold, the Lord is about to come out from His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; and the earth will reveal her bloodshed, and will no longer cover her slain.” Isaiah 26:11-13, 20-21

[Jesus teaching] “’I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved ….’” John 10:9a

This life is but a vapour -- like the fog that rises in the morning -- ever so short.  God promised He will return to judge the earth.  Those who have refused the Father’s gracious offer -- those who have turned away from the hope of His sacrifice will have no place to hide.  Only His children will be hidden securely behind the door of His precious, unfailing and ultimate protection.  There is no other hope.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene
