YouTube Discovering the Gospel in Genesis – Tim Keller

By Gospel in Life

Between today and the end of the year, this new series will explore the forty-four prophecies in the Old Testament that foretold of Jesus coming.  The hope is that it will help us be a bit more sympathetic for how surprised the Pharisees and Sadducees were when Jesus showed up as a simple carpenter and teacher.

Assignment

1.    Set aside an hour and find a place where you will not be interrupted.

2.    Bring your Bible, notebook, something to write with and a refreshment.

3.    Settle in.  Quieten your heart and pray that the Lord will give you new insight into His word and that it will give you new boldness to share these learnings with at least two more people.

4.    Open your notebook, date the page for today and create a table like the one below in your notebook.

NOTE:  if your note page is not large enough to accommodate this kind of table, just write them like this:

Genesis3:15 and Galatians 4.4 and then list the topic that you find there.

Prophetic Scripture

Fulfilled

Topic

Genesis 3:15

Galatians 4.4

Genesis 12:3

Matthew 1:1

Genesis 17:19

Luke 3:34

Genesis 49:10

Luke 3:33

5.    Once you have completed each of the sets and identified the topic that is covered consider how the Pharisees and Sadducees might have misinterpreted them.

6.    Pray and thank God that He has been working since the creation of all things that He understood how sin would stain the hearts of people and that God was planning His ‘Solution’ even from them.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

Grumbling or Praying?

YouTube:  What exactly did Moses do wrong at Meribah?

By luisetReneeandBill

“O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.  Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving.  Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

“For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods, in whose hands are the depths of the earth, the peaks of the mountains are His also.

“The sea is His, for it was He who made it, and His hands formed the dry land.  Come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.  For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.

“Today, if you would hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers tested Me, they tried Me, though they had seen My work.” Psalm 95:1-9

After God freed His people from Egypt -- where they had become poorly treated slaves -- they had a few ups and downs.  They longed for ‘the way it used to be’ and grumbled at and blamed Moses, who they expected to fix things their way.

The people complained, demanded and grumbled about a lack of water.  Moses was tired and lost his temper.  Though the water was provided, Moses paid for his actions by not being able to enter the Promised Land.

Discontent is part of all of our lives.  We have a choice to grumble, to wallow in our situation, lose our tempers or pray to the Lord of all for wisdom to better understand the WHY of the moment.

For a bit more insight take time to read Exodus 17:1-7, Numbers 20:6-8 and Deuteronomy 32:51-52.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

The message of the Gospel

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K_XIezp7iY

Simple Gospel Illustration - Bridge Illustration - The Navigators

By Soul Fire 209 (15 min 6 sec)

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear.  But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.

“For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken falsehood, your tongue mutters wickedness.  No one sues righteously and no one pleads honestly.  They trust in confusion and speak lies; they conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.” Isaiah 59:1-4

Tis the season to be inundated with ‘black Friday’ sales as if there is no time but now to buy gifts for yourself or others.  The urgency of buy it now is everywhere.  Yet, there is a far greater urgency and that is the urgency to share the greatest gift of all which is the reason for sharing the wonderful video above to help prepare you.

“Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good?  But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed.  And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you,

“yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behaviour in Christ will be put to shame.

“For it is better, if God should will it so, that you suffer for doing what is right rather than for doing what is wrong.  For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;” I Peter 3:P

What About Grace?  What does it mean!

By Ellerslie Discipleship (11 min 26 sec)

“I will give You thanks with all my heart; I will sing praises to You before the gods. I will bow down toward Your holy temple and give thanks to Your name for Your lovingkindness and Your truth; for You have magnified Your word according to all Your name.

“On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.  All the kings of the earth will give thanks to You, O Lord, when they have heard the words of Your mouth.

“And they will sing of the ways of the Lord, for great is the glory of the Lord.  For though the Lord is exalted, yet He regards the lowly, but the haughty He knows from afar.

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me.

“The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalm 138
