Lots of Prayers First!

"And the angel took the censer; and he filled it with the fire of the altar and threw it to the earth; and there followed peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightening and an earthquake." Revelation 8:5

"Then I looked, and behold, in the expanse there was over the heads of the cherubim something like a sapphire stone, in appearance above them.  And He spoke to the man clothed in linen and said, 'Enter between the whirling wheels under the cherubim, and fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city.  And he entered in my sight." Ezekiel 10:1-2

"'And Aaron shall burn fragrant incense on it; he shall burn it every morning when he trims the lamps.  And when Aaron trims the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense.  There shall be perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.'" Exodus 30:7-8

In the Old Testament men and women usually did not approach God directly; although they could.  Yet He seemed dreadful and too powerful.  So the priests would enter the temple and the incense they placed on the coals of the altar were representative of the prayers of the people.

In the New Testament, God seems a bit closer and more accessible.  Our prayers are considered like the sweet aroma of incense that pleases Him wherever and whenever we choose to pray.  Praying is the easiest thing to do!  Praying is the hardest thing to do!  And most of us would agree we do not pray enough.

In this Revelation passage, it would seem a lot of prayers are preparing the earth for something quite spectacular!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Moment of Silence

"And when He broke the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.  And I saw the seven angels who stand before God; and seven trumpets were given to them.

"And another angel came and stood at the altar, holding a golden censer; and much incense was given to him, that he might add it to the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.  And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel's hand." Revelation 8:1-4

Not many of us think of Heaven as being noisy, but Scripture is filled with reminders of the sounds of constant praise, music and singing there.  However, for this one half hour God calls for silence.

In the silence the cries of those suffering and in sorrow fills the Heavens and considers what has happened in His creation.  This is the awesome silence before the great storm of God's wrath on the earth.

Some days we need silence to consider the swirling storms of distracting noise, pain and sorrow in our own lives and consider entrusting all to the Lord.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Can Blood Wash White?

"And one of the elders answered, saying to me, 'These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and from where have they come?'  And I said to him, 'My lord, you know.'  And he said to me,

"'These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.  For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne shall spread His tabernacle over them.

"They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; neither shall the sun beat down on them, nor any heat, for the Lamb in the centre of the throne shall be their shepherd, and shall guide them to springs of the water of life, and God shall wipe every tear from their eyes."  Revelation 7:13-17

"And according to the Law, one may almost say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews 9:22 (if you have time read verses 12-28 for more context)

White is the symbol of purity and white robes are given to these individuals because of their faithful reliance and trust in God, whether throughout the ages or with regard to a specific period of time.

The frequent talk of Christ's blood is a reminder that without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sins.  We only have to ask and Jesus does the washing.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Address? Oasis in Heaven!

"After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude, which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands, and they cry out with a loud voice saying, 'Salvation to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.'

"And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures,; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshipped God, saying, 'Amen, blessings and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honour and power and might, be to our God forever and ever.  Amen.'" Revelation 7:9-12

"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters." Psalm 23:1-2

"He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces, and He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken.

"And it will be said in that day, 'Behold, this is our God fro whom we have waited that He might  save us, this is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." Isaiah 25:8

The palm branches symbolise an oasis, in this case the final oasis of those who reside in Heaven.  We also think of palm branches at this time of year - Christ's Triumphal entry.  (Matthew 21:8, Mark 11:8, Luke 19:36, John 12:13

Branches in the case of Christ's ride into Jerusalem symbolised a personal oasis of sorts.  For Christ, it was the only time He allowed people to freely worship Him while He was on earth...a small oasis of peace for the One who would soon die to ensure we have a future oasis of eternal peace in heaven.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
