That's Some Rolling!

Or search YouTube for
The Stone Rolled Away

“His grave was assigned with wicked men, yet He was with a rich man in His death, because He had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in His mouth.” Isaiah 53:9

“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing spices which they had prepared.  And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.” Luke 24:1-3

When you visit the Holy Lands it is a strange experience.  Of course, you can’t be closer to the Lord Jesus than you are right now.  Yet, somehow walking the narrow streets and imagining this might be where He walked, taught, healed, drug His cross out to the Hill -- it adds a new dimension to what you believe.

Our group woke very early one morning to visit the possible burial place of Jesus.  The typically noisy streets were quiet at that early hour.  It was unusually cold, yet birds flitted about chirping in the sun rays breaking through the canopy of the lovely garden surrounding the tomb.

We prayed, as we did at each site we visited and then listened to the gentleman explain a bit about what we would be seeing.  The stone was unexpectantly large – at least one and a half times taller than me -- almost round and about the thickness of my two hands side-by-side (perhaps eight inches).  Rolling it aside would be virtually impossible without draft animals helping.

What is especially thought-provoking is how the Bible describes the way the stone was ‘rolled away’.  Actually, the word used means it was rolled UP from the opening!  Now that would certainly take some rolling!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

A Paraphrase of Isaiah 53:7-8

“He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; like a lamb that is led to slaughter and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth.

“By oppression and judgment, He was taken away; and as for His generation, who considered that He was cut off out of the land of living, for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due?” Isaiah 53 7-8

He was oppressed, yet when He was afflicted and beaten, He was submissive to those who falsely accused and punished Him.  He did not argue with them or object.  He was more like an innocent lamb that is easily lead to the slaughter or a sheep who is quiet and peaceful before her shearers.  He was quiet.

By inappropriate oppression and faulty judgment He was taken away from life before He was able to be a father and leave a new generation of children behind.  No one considered that His death would mean much!  And yet, it was for your and my transgressions that He died, even though His punishment should have fallen on each of us.  (my paraphrase)

His love for us is unbelievable in the lost world we live in today.  It is His love we are privileged to experience and our opportunity every day to share!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

There are now five Amazon Kindles created from the many years of devotions.  I am about to complete one on Romans.  These are created to support you and to help sustain this ministry that has endeavoured to serve since 1999.   (The five books so far are:  Christ Is For Real, Genesis and Discrimination, Secrets of a Deeper Life in Christ, A Missing Psalm and Forgiveness.

If you missed any of the devotions in your email box, you can find them on the blog site.  Search in Google for "WeakDay Devotions" or go to:  http://www.weakdaydevotion.com   and check out "Especially His" on http://especiallyhislove.blogspot.com

______________ The WeakDay Devotion has been written fresh for you almost every weekday morning since the beginning of 1999.  It originated as encouragement for a dear friend who was having difficulties with her job.  Today, the number of people who receive it continues to grow as others hear about it, receive it from friends, pass it on or ask to receive it directly as email.

It is especially for my family, friends, business people, students, pastors, teachers and a myriad of pre-, new and long-time-serving Christians who want a bit more Scripture with their devotion than many of the regular devotionals offered.  It is also written to be short (usually one screen in length) so you can get on with your day and be filled with a new idea from God's Word.  It also fits perfectly on your phone or tablet.

The prayer list started slowly and is now longer than the daily devotion.  Should you have a prayer request, just send me an email.  Those of us who pray just need updates, so we know how to pray wisely.

Do not hesitate to let me know: (1). if you have received this copy from a friend and would like to be included in the regular email distribution list; (2). if you would like to stop receiving the Devotions for a while or be removed from the distribution list altogether.  (Please note:  If you are receiving this from a friend, I am unable to remove your name from the distribution list.  You will need to contact the one who is sending it to you.)

For the official record, this goes out as a "blind" copy to save you from wading through a long list of names with each email.  I use the New American Standard Bible by the Lockman Foundation unless otherwise noted.  It is my privilege to pray over and guard the distribution list.

If you should ever wish to contact me, send an email to  dd.richard@bigpond.com  or darlenerichard@gmail.com

Finally, I use McAfee Virus software and Advanced System Care to protect you
