Pre-Lent - Isaiah 53, Part 1

or search YouTube for:
Christ by artist Danny Hahlbohm

“Who has believed our message?  And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?  For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of parched ground’ He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him.” Isaiah 53:1-2

“And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.  And she gave birth to her first-born Son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” Luke 2:6-7

This collection of paintings is by Danny Hahlbahm.  He has a gift that helps us ‘feel’ the love of Christ.  Although, of course, no one knows what Jesus looked like -- “no stately form or majesty” – seems inadequate.  Yet each of us has an image in our minds of what He looks like for us.  And that is so personal and special!

On 6 March this year (2019), Lent begins.  My church is using a book, called Shadows of the Cross to share the experience and I want to share an impression of these sweet 40 devotions with you.

I hope you will join me on this journey and prepare your heart for Easter in a new way.  For the time being, we will walk slowly through Isaiah 53 together.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene
