THANKSGIVING (USA) - THANK YOU FOR A FUTURE

“’For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be remembered or come to mind.’” Isaiah 65:17

“ … that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.  Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.

“Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do:  forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:10-14

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.  Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” II Corinthians 5:17-18

“But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.” II Peter 3:13

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea.” Revelation 21:1

Thanksgiving continues year-round as we consider together the amazing and faithful provision and patience our heavenly Father has for us.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

THANKSGIVING - NEW LIFE!

My Thanksgiving will be quiet.
Here is a gift to share
from my heart to yours.
Happy Thanksgiving:

(Click on the picture above or copy and paste this link
into your browser or search for ‘The Chosen’ by VidAngel’:

“But what does it say?  ‘The Word is near you, in your  mouth and in your heart’ – that is the Word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

“For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed.’  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call upon Him; for ‘whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.'  How then shall they call upon Him in whom they have not believed?

“And how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard?  And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent?  Just as it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring glad tidings of good things!’” Romans 10:13-16

Take time this Thanksgiving to remember the day you realised the Lord Jesus made sense in your heart of hearts.  Think about all the challenges and battles you faced that brought you to the foot of the Cross.  Thank Him for your journey since and know His plans for your future are wonderful and full of hope and an eternal life of joy in His presence.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR LIVING EXAMPLE

“And Jesus was going about in all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.  And the news about Him went out into all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, taken with various diseases and pains demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics, and He healed them.” Matthew 4:23-24

“And the apostles gathered together with Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught.  And He said to them, ‘Come away by yourselves to a lonely place and rest awhile.’” Marks 6:30-31a

“And He summoned the multitude with His disciples, and said to them, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.  For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake and the Gospel’s shall save it.’” Mark 8:34-35

“And they were bringing even their babies to Him so that He might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they began rebuking them.  But Jesus called for them, saying, ‘Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.  Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it at all.’” Luke 18:15-18

“And so when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, ‘Do you know what I have done to you?  You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am.  If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.  For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you.’” John 13:12-15

Searching for Scriptures that would illustrate how the Lord showed and lived as an example for each of us was an amazing experience for me.  There are so many that speak strongly to me, but of course you will not have time to read too much in the devotion.  But the Gospels are brimming over with wonderful examples we can all follow ... He taught, proclaimed, healed, rested, rebuked, summoned.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PLANS FOR US

“And the Lord God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, cursed are you more than all cattle, and more than every beast of the field; on your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life; and I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, and you shall bruise Him on the heel.’” Genesis 3:14-15

“My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and skilfully wrought in the depths of the earth.  Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139:15-16

“’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord., ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.  And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.’” Jeremiah 29:11-13

“Jesus therefore said to them again, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.  All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them.  I am the door.  If anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life and might have it abundantly.’” John 10:7-10

“And he said to me, ‘These words are faithful and true’; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond servants the things which must shortly take pace.  ‘And behold, I am coming quickly.  Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.’” Revelation 22:6-7

Sinful rebellion began early.  Although we can’t empathise or understand God’s feelings, to me it must have been a sad day for Him when evil first raised its head.  Yet God in His all-knowing wisdom conceived and wove a plan so intricate and so perfect no one could imagine how effective it proves to be throughout the ages.  We can be thankful that each of us are drawn into this plan to be included in -- not just life -- but abundant life for eternity with Him.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

THANK YOU GOD FOR THE BIBLE

Fifteen minutes that will change
Your mind about
Memorising Scripture!
You will LOVE it!
Please take time to listen:
John Piper – Sermon with Scripture Only
WONDERFUL!

“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. – And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we behold His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1, 14

“All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be adequate equipped for every good work.”  II Timothy 4:19-17

“’So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”  Isaiah 55:11

“Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:16-17

I’m deeply thankful that the Lord provided a Bible to me when I was nine years old and gave me a curiosity and discipline to begin reading it.  He has used it in my life in ways difficult to even imagine.  During this Thanksgiving week, it is something you may also wish to consider for your list of many blessings!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene
