No More Darkness

"And there shall no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His bond-servants shall serve Him; and they shall see His face; and His name shall be on their foreheads.

"And there shall no longer be any night and they shall not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall illumine them; and they shall reign forever and ever." Revelation 22:3-5

"Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying. 'I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.'" John 8:12

When I was a little girl, my Mom surprised me one evening as she came to tuck me in bed.  She read a story as always.  I loved watching her lips move and form the words that would form images in my head as she read.

When she said, 'The end", she closed the book and put it back on my bookshelf.  Then she asked me to close my eyes.  She got up from my bed and turned out my light.  She asked me to open my eyes.  I blinked a couple of times and heard her say quietly, "Look up."

When I did, I smiled in the darkness to see a collection of glowing stars and a moon right in my room!  We sat there for awhile, as she watched me slip into sleep and told me about how this light was reflected and stored light.

Today I still remember that.  Now I think about it in relation to our life in Christ.  His light at this time is only reflected through our faith and thankfulness for what He has done for us.  This is why occasionally someone will ask you what is so different about you...because you do glow with His reflected love and forgiveness.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Dying for Living Water

"And he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street.  And on either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." Revelation 22:1-

"And it will come about in that day that living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter."  Zechariah 14:8

"Jesus answered and said to her, 'Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again; but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.'" John 4:13-14

We can't live without water.  Water brings a remarkable and enchanting property of transparent beauty and constant movement.  Artists who try to bring it to life on canvas or paper always fall short because water has a wondrous life within it.  Even in the New Jerusalem the loveliness and gracefulness of water flows.

When the Lord spoke with the woman at the well and explained how being thirsty for earthly water was important, seeking the water only He can give is critical.

Our world today aches to drink the Living Waters of Jesus Christ, because one day it will be the only water left until the New Jerusalem arrives.  Take time with that special person on your prayer list this week.  Help them understand the purpose of Living Water for their life.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Kings in the New Eternity?

"And the nations shall walk by its light and the kings of the earth shall bring their glory into it.  And in the daytime (for there shall be no night there) its gates shall never be closed; and they shall bring the glory and the honour of the nations into it; and nothing unclean and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."  Revelation 21:24-27

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." I Peter 2:9-10

The New Jerusalem will be populated by the saints, the royal priesthood of believers in Christ's grace.  So, who could these kings be and where would their kingdoms be?

My research was inconclusive and speculative.

However, when I focused on the Scripture before I did any research (as is my habit), it seemed these kings might be special and notable characters mentioned in Scripture, such as the courageous prophets of the Old Testament, Enoch (who never died), David, Joseph...a collection of those who have taught us the most significant lessons.

Their kingdoms could be outside the Holy New Jerusalem or wherever it might suit our Heavenly Father as He would appoint them.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
