Why Communion?

"And a second time they said, 'Hallelujah!  Her smoke rises up forever and ever.'  And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, 'Amen.  Hallelujah!'

"And a voice came from the throne, saying, 'Give praise to our God, all you His bondservants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.'

"And I heard as it were, the voice of a great multitude and as the sound of many waters and the sound o f mighty peals of thunder, saying, 'Hallelujah!  For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns." Revelation 19:3-6

"And when the hour had come He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him.  And He said to them, 'I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I shall never again eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God'

"And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He said, 'Take this and share it among yourselves; for I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.

"And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it, and gave it to them, saying, 'This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.'  And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, 'This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.'" Luke 22:14-20

At the end, the Lord Jesus Christ is triumphant.  This was always the plan from the moment of the Fall.  The Bible details so many who tried to do the right thing; and nevertheless failed in their own efforts.  Right before Jesus allowed Himself to be captured and crucified, He instituted, what we call the sacrament of communion.

It was not a casual taking of bread and a sip of wine, it was to keep us aware and alert to His powerful and ultimate plan for us and for those who will refuse to choose Him until the very end.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Is God Paying Attention!!?

"After these things I heard as it were, a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, 'Hallelujah!  Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.'" Revelation 19:1-2

"'Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known.  What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.  And do not fear those who kill the body, but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

"'Are not two sparrows sold for a cent?  And yet no one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.  But the very hairs of your head are numbered.  Therefore do not fear, you are of more value than many sparrows.'" Matthew 10:26-31

It is easy to wonder if God is noticing what is happening in the world, let alone what is happening in our individual lives and hearts.  The Bible assures us that He does not miss one small detail.

Even though the world seems "to be going to Hell in a hand-basket" as my parents used to say.  The older I get the more dire the world seems, with people not caring for each other or the gifts the Lord has given to us.

His plan was and is always to harvest the greatest abundance of hearts thanks to the sacrifice of His precious Son, Jesus.  So He waits.  While He waits, our hearts may grow heavy with the chaos swirling around us, but we can know we are not alone through it.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene

Quiet Darkness Before the End

"'Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, because God has pronounced judgment for you against her.'  And a strong angel took up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying, 'Thus will Babylon, the great city, be thrown down with violence, and will not be found any longer.

"And the sound of harpists and musicians and flute-players and trumpeters will not be heard in you any longer; and no craftsman or any craft will be found in you any longer, and the sound of a mill will not be heard in you any longer; and the light of a lamp will not shine in you any longer,

"'and the voice of the bridegroom and bride will not be heard in you any longer; for your merchants were the great men of the earth, because all the nations were deceived by your sorcery.  And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints and of all who have been slain on the earth.'" Revelation 18:20

I have great, personal fascination with Babylon, the first city of rebellion against God built under the direction of Nimrod.  The earth was still recovering from the Great Flood and people came together to thwart God (Genesis 11:1-9) even AFTER understanding His power!

God had an original plan, but choose not to force anyone to obey Him.  God purposed for humanity to separate by languages and distance, gathering together in like-minded groupings.  Man choose to do what was right in their own eyes.

Who can imagine how many iterations of plans God has to save His beloved children!  To this day men continue to work toward one homogenised, mash up of humanity.

Yet, here in Revelation, we see the very last of Babylon...a quieting...a shutting off of sound..a snuffing out of light and hope as those remaining, face the end of all time.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
