‘Live look at Hurricane Ian destruction by WTHR TV

“Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, ‘Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?  Now gird up your loins like a man, and I will ask you, and you instruct Me!

“‘Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?  Tell Me, if you have understanding, who sets its measurements?  Since you know, or who stretched the line on it?  On what were its bases sunk?  Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars and together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Or who enclosed the sea with doors when, bursting  forth, it went out from the womb; when I made a cloud its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band, and I placed boundaries on it and set a bolt and doors, and I said, ‘Thus far you shall come, but no farther; and here shall your proud waves stop’?” Job 38:1-11

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.  For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn of many brethren;” Romans 8:28-29a

Promise that Started the Series

By Legacy Standard Bible (7 min 58 sec)

“O Lord, how many are Your works!  In wisdom You have made them all; the earth is full of Your possessions.  There is the sea, great and broad in which are swarms without number, animals both small and great.  There the ships move along, and Leviathan, which You have formed to sport in it.” Psalm 104:24-26

Most of us who have been around the Body of believers for awhile have heard promises and one that inspired this series is:

“Do not fret because of evildoers, be not envious toward wrongdoers.  For they will wither quickly like the grass and fade like the green herb.  Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

“Delight yourself in the Lord; and He will give you the desires of your heart.

“Commit your ways to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it.  He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgement as the noonday.”

Psalm 37:1-6

It is a common promise that I hear quoted and usually with a little smile.  It is an easy verse to add to your memory verses, and easy to remember.  The problem comes with the condition.  Most sort of slip over the condition and get right to the bonus - ‘and He will give you the desires of your heart’.

Yet, the condition is clear:  ‘Delight yourself in the Lord’.  The secret (if I can use that term here) is that – if and as – you focus your delight in the Lord, He manages the desires and wants.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)
