YouTube – All of My Days – Psalm 23 (

By – Ellie Holcomb (4 mins 37 sec)

“Therefore, having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away.

“But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ.  But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” II Corinthians 3:12-18

Throughout our lives, God is calling us to change and grow up in Him.  We can defy change, resist change or we can pay attention to how we are changing and learn from it.

No matter what, we can always rest soundly knowing our lives are in the hands of the One who knows the direction for our lives.  The more we trust and surrender our lives into His care, the easier it is for Him to form us into the image of His beloved Son Jesus.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

His First Installment

“But as God is faithful, our word to you is not yes and no.  For the Son of God, Christ Jesus, who was preached among you by us – by me and Silvanus and Timothy – was not yes and no, but is yes in Him.

“For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.  Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and anointed us is God, who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.” II Corinthians 1:15-22

“Timothy and Silvanus and I have been telling you about Jesus Christ the Son of God.  He isn’t one to say ‘yes’ when He means ‘no’.  He always does exactly what he says.  He carries out and fulfils all of God’s promises, no matter how many of them there are; and we have told everyone how faithful He is, giving glory to His name.

“It is this God who has made you and me into faithful Christians and commissioned us apostles to preach the Good News.  He has put His brand upon us – His mark of ownership – and given us His Holy Spirit in our hearts as guarantee that we belong to Him, and as the first installment of all that He is going to give us.” II Corinthians 1:15-22 – Living Bible

Paul planned to visit Macedonia, but his plans were delayed.  Some of his enemies used this to say Paul was not a man of his word and therefore could not be trusted.  Paul uses this to illustrate that although men do not always do as they say they will do, God does not lie and can always be trusted.

To prove this, God gave us the Holy Spirit as the ‘first installment’ of our new life in Christ.  The indwelling Holy Spirit is our guarantee that salvation is ours AND that when Christ returns, we will receive so much more both.  The great comfort and power the Holy Spirit gives in this life is only a foretaste of the benefits and blessings of our eternal life in God’s presence!

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

WeakEnd Assignment – Your Pastor

Credit:  Barna Research

“Behold the Lord God will come with might, with His arm ruling for Him.  Behold, His reward is with Him and His recompense before Him.  Like a shepherd He will tend His flock, in His arm He will gather the lambs and carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes.” Isaiah 40:10-11

“So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?’ He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’  He said to him, ‘Tend My lambs.’

“He said to him again a second time, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me?’  He said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.’  He said to him, ‘Shepherd My sheep.’

“He said to him the third time, ‘Simon, son of John, do you love Me?’  Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, ‘Do you love Me?’  And he said to Him, ‘Lord You know all things; You know that I love You.’  Jesus said to him, ‘Tend My sheep.’” John 21:15-17

Barna Research recently completed The State of Pastors, Volume 2, (created in partnership with World Vision, Brotherhood Mutual, RightNow Media and World Impact), and the overarching conclusion:  ‘When pastors align personally with their mission, the church benefits corporately.’

It got me to thinking how the challenges of today could either inspire or discourage our pastors.  What a joy it is to know that God is not just calling pastors by name -- as He did Peter -- but He is creating a new sensitivity and appreciation in their hearts to the growing need for them.
