Working On It!

"By the sweat [hard work] of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, because from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return." Genesis 3:19

"Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written.  The days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them."  Psalm 139:16

"Someone has estimated that as many as 80 percent of our work force are dissatisfied with the jobs they are in.  For many of us that may be due to a reluctance to be what God planned for us to be."*

In the Garden of Eden, man made a choice to be dissatisfied with what they were provided and this curse onto the man was placed there by God as a reminder of God's provision.

Under the grace of Jesus Christ we are still to work and provide for ourselves and our families but, unlike Adam and Eve, this curse is now a blessing.  Where we are is where we are placed to touch others for Him.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene

Circumstantial or Accidental?

"Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, 'Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!'  Nathanael said to Him, 'How do You know me?'  Jesus answered and said to him, 'Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.'

"Nathanael answered Him, 'Rabbi!  You are the Son of God/ You are the King of Israel.'  Jesus answered and said to him, 'Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe?  You shall see greater things than these.'" John 1:47-50

"WHO you are is not a biological accident.  WHAT you are is not a circumstantial accident.  God planned both for you."*

As a child, I was told I was an accident and the reason my Mom had to marry my father...a very unhappy union that I was to blame for.  Yet, God worked through everything to see me and my entire family become dependent on His saving grace.  Think about your own life for a minute...see the miracles along the way.  No accidents with God!

To BE and DO?

"Now there are a variety of gifts, but the same Spirit.  And there are varieties of ministries and the same Lord.  And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.

"But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. -- But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills." I Corinthians 12:4-7, 11

"However God's plan for us embraces more than merely the events or circumstances that happen to us.  It also embraces that which He wants us to BE and to DO.  The Scriptures teach that God places EACH [and EVERY] believer in the Body of Christ as it pleases Him."*

There is no randomness with the Lord.  He knows us as no one else CAN ever know us, as He formed us in our mother's womb especially for who we are and what we do.  He sees all the moving and stationary people, places and situations whirling around all.  With His ultimate wisdom He equips and places us to "bloom where we are planted".  Now that IS awesome!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene

How Long Will I Live (part 2)

""For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb.  I will give thanks to Thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and my soul knows it very well.

"My frame was not hidden from Thee when I was made in secret, and skilfully wrought in the depths of the earth."Psalm 139:13-15

"and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation,

"that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him, and find Him though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and exist, as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we also are His offspring.'" Acts 17:26-28

"Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with Thee, and his limits Thou hast set so that he cannot pass." Job 14:5

"Someone has said that one of the most inspiring of truths is that God has a distinct plan for each one of us in sending us into this world.  Thisplan embraces not only His original creation of us, but also the family and social settings into which we were born.

"It includes all the vicissitudes of life, all the seemingly chance or random happenings, and all the sudden and unexpected turns of events, both 'good' and 'bad,' that occur in our lives.  All these situations and circumstances, though they may appear only as happenstance to us, were written in God's book before one of them came to be."*

I grew up in turbulent times in a turbulent family that was searching for answers in a turbulent world.  At the age of nine I owned the only Bible in the house and read it over and over...It is this alone that brought me comfort.

Somehow, even though it was ten years later that I came to know Christ as my personal Saviour, He was working in my life through circumstances to bring me a peace and understanding and a hope I could not actually understand...just somehow I knew HE knew.

Have a wonderful weekend and please remember those on the prayer list...it is long, yes, I know, but many have need!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene

How Long Will I Live? (Part 1)

"For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb.  I will give thanks to Thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works, and my soul knows it very well.

"My frame was not hidden from Thee when I was made in secret, and skilfully wrought in the depths of the earth.  Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy books they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them." Psalm 139:13-16

"My times are in Thy hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.  Make Thy face to shine upon Thy servant; save me in Thy lovingkindness." Psalm 31:15

"God not only created us as He intended us to be, He also sovereignly determines how long we live.  This in itself is a glorious truth.  Along with David, our times are in His hands.  As one line from a song says, 'Till He bid, I cannot die.'"*

A secret in most, if not all, hearts, is to know the answer to the title question:  How long will I live?  Sometimes it is because we are burdened and hope we can be released soon and sometimes it is because we are so blessed we never want our time to end.  But this is only half of this principle...tomorrow the other part.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
