Does Adversity = Sin??

"Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.  And the Lord said to Satan, 'From where do you come?'  Then Satan answered the Lord and said, 'From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it.'

"And the Lord said to Satan, 'Have you considered My servant Job?  For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.'" Job 1:6-8

"As we consider God's discipline through adversity, we must also be careful that we do not equate a certain amount of adversity with a certain level of sinfulness in either our own or someone else's life."*

When I was a child, I reasoned that because all the people who died around me were good people, God's plan must be that when you get good enough He makes you die.  I thought He just wanted the best people in Heaven, like my Grandpa and Grandma.

Growing up and coming to the Cross taught me that God's plans for all of us are far too complicated to understand.  No one understood what happened to Job!  But we can KNOW that all He does is designed to bring us His good and Him glory!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
