Keith Green - Create in me a Clean Heart
God gives you a fresh New Year
and reminds you:
“Your frame was not hidden
from Me when you were made in secret, and skilfully wrought in the depths of
the earth. My eyes have seen your
unformed substance; and in My book they were all written, the days that were ordained
for you when as yet there was not one of them.” Psalm 139:15-16
Now, Jesus sits across from
you and shares His desire for you and those you love for this New Year:
“’For God so loved the world,
that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have eternal life. For God
did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world
should be saved through Him. He who
believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.’”
John 3:16-18
“Jesus said to Him, ‘I am the
way and the truth; and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.”
John 14:6
An unnamed person tells you
the importance of believing:
“Now faith is the assurance of
things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were
prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things
which are visible.” Hebrews 11:1-3
Paul reminds you:
“For all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the
redemption which is in Christ Jesus; -- For
the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.” Romans 2:23 and 6:23
John speaks with you about the
importance of using ‘Spiritual Soap’ to leave 2019 behind:
“If we confess our sins, He is
faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.” I John 1:9
James encourages you:
“Consider it all joy, my
brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your
faith produces endurance. And let endurance
have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete lacking in
nothing.” James 1:2-4
Finally, Paul speaks with you
concerning your New Year’s resolution for 2020:
“Therefore, if any man is in
Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things
have come. Now all these things are from
God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of
Reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to
Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us
the word of reconciliation.
“Therefore, we are ambassadors
for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of
Christ, be reconciled to God. He made
Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.” II Corinthians 5:17-20
You might argue a bit and then
Paul reminds you of this:
“For by grace you have been
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not as a
result of works, that no one should boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which
God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10
Walk judiciously, seriously and
determinedly into this New Year. The
Lord has work that is yours, if you are willing.
Take care with love, especially
His! Your servant and friend in Christ,
who still prays for you each morning.
Darlene
