GRASS IS GREENER STORIES

“For their hearts are like an oven as they approach their plotting; their anger smoulders all night, in the morning it burns like a flaming fire.  All of them are hot like an oven, and they consume their rulers; all their kings have fallen.  None of them calls on Me.

“Ephraim mixes himself with the nations; Ephraim has become a cake not turned.  Strangers devour his strength, yet he does not know it; grey hairs also are sprinkled on him, yet he does not know it.  Though the pride of Israel testifies against him, yet they have not returned to the Lord their God, nor have they sought Him, for all this.

“So Ephraim has become like a silly dove, without sense; they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.  When they go, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like the birds of the sky.  I will chastise them in accordance with the proclamation of their assembly.”  Hosea 7:7-129

The Bible is filled with ‘grass is greener’ stories, especially in the Old Testament when it comes to the behaviour of God’s chosen people.  God forgave the bad behaviour, their betrayal and abandonment of Truth over and over again.  God instituted long periods of ‘educational opportunities’ to help His people understand.

Over and over again, God’s chosen people did what they thought was right in their own eyes.  Nevertheless, God has perfect patience and timing; matched only by His love and willingness to forgive.  The quicker we learn this lesson the easier life becomes, because the grass is never greener when we stray out of God’s pasture!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene
