Do I really need to go to church?  WORTH SEEING

by Senor Conrad

[God speaking] “’You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves an image or a sacred pillar, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God.

“’You shall keep My sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary; I am the Lord.  If you walk in My statues and keep My commandments so as to carry them out, then I shall give you rains in their season, so that the land will yield its produce and the trees of the field will bear their fruit.

“’Indeed, your threshing will last for you until grape gathering, and grape gathering will last until sowing time.  You will thus eat your food to the full and live securely in your land.  I shall also grant peace in the land, so that you may lie down with no one making you tremble.

“’I shall also eliminate harmful beasts from the land, and no sword will pass through your land.  But you will chase your enemies and they will fall before you by the sword; five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall before you by the sword.  So I will turn toward you and make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will confirm My covenant with you.’” Leviticus 26:1-9

A recent Gallop poll showed there is a 50 percent decline in church membership – this is the first time this has happened in Gallop’s eighty years of polling.  31 percent of millennials have no religious beliefs at all and this number is increasing.  God’s promises above had conditions.  Please pray about this.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

Quick Way to Explain Sin in 54 Seconds

Or search YouTube for ‘How do I explain sin to an unbeliever?

By Ligionier Ministries

[Moses speaking to the Israelites] “’Now, Israel what does the Lord your God require from you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the Lord’s commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good?’” Deuteronomy 10:12-13

Did your Mom and/ or Dad ever say to you, right before you were punished for something you did wrong:  ‘This is going to hurt me more than you, but I must do this for your own good.’?  Well, it was a common saying in our family and it took awhile for me to realise it was true.

As I began to read through Scripture it was easy to see that my parents (although unchurched) were expressing a principle laid down by God.  None of us want to obey.  Each of us sees a ‘red line we are not to cross’ and we begin to search for ways around the prohibition.

The first and critical step to becoming a Christian is to admit your helplessness over sin in your life.  Yet, many deny sin by their own will and demand a ‘definition of sin’ that they can understand.  R.C. Sproul’s answer above is too true when it comes to recognising the universal appeal of sin and our helplessness over it.

What then?  Are we better than they?  Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written,

There is none righteous, not even one;

There is none who understands,

There is none who seeks for God;

All have turned aside

Together they have become useless;

There is none who does good

There is not even one.’”

Romans 3:9-12

WeakEnd Assignment – Feeling Alone?

By Branch Together

“Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:1-3

There are times when each of us feels alone, insignificant, almost invisible.  It is at these times that it is important to remember Hebrews 12:1-3.  It assures us that, like those listed in Hebrews 11, the Lord Jesus Christ and His host of angels watches over us with love and care.

Assignment

1.    Set aside an hour and find a place where you will not be interrupted.

2.    Bring with you your Bible, notebook, something to write with and a refreshment.

3.    Settle in and pray the Lord will help you learn new lessons from what you read.

4.    Find a fresh page in your notebook and date it for today.

5.    Read chapter 11 of Hebrews, listing each of the individuals mentioned in the chapter and why you believe they were listed (by what is written in the text or by what you remember of the characters).

6.    List or circle the verse numbers where you find promises and note any accompanying conditions.

7.    Consider the impact of Hebrews 12:1-3 on your life.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)
