A Fan Animated Summary

By IDSTER’S CHANNEL (21 min 27 sec)

Worth every one of those 21 minutes!

“As for God, His way is blameless; the word of the Lord is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.  For who is God, but the Lord?  And who is a rock, except our God, the God who girds me with strength and makes my way blameless?

“He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and sets me upon my high places.  He trains my hands for battle, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

“You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand upholds me; and Your gentleness makes me great.  You enlarge my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped.” Psalm 18:30-36

Those who know me also know that one of my favourite books, other than the Bible is Hinds’ Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard[1].  There is a bit of story about how I finally read it, but I will save that for another time.

God’s promises in this passage are so wonderful:  a shield for us when we need refuge, a rock who girds us with strength.  He makes our way blameless, our feet are sure and stable, our hands and hearts are ready for battle with a strength that exceeds wonder.

He gives us the shield of salvation.  We are upheld by His very right hand!  His gentleness permits each of His children to be all He intends, and we walk beside the Lord as He upholds us in weariness, fear, confusion, illness or old age.  What a WONDERFUL and LOVING Father cares for us!  (see also Ephesians 6:10-17!)

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

By Shane and Shane

“Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You.  I said to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; I have no good besides You.’  As for the saints who are in the earth, they are majestic ones in whom is all my delight.  The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, nor will I take their names upon my lips.

“The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot.  The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.

I will bless the Lord who has counselled me; indeed, my mind instructs me in the night.  I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  Therefore, my heart is glad and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will dwell securely.

“For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol; nor will You allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.  You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” Psalm 16

When I did my Bible study this morning about this Psalm, I was struck by the many perspectives the commentators had focused on.  Yet, and perhaps because the loss of my ‘little brother’ is still so fresh in my heart, this personal Psalm was very personal for me.

In all my sadness at the fact that on this earth I will never have an opportunity to see and hug Timmy again, yet, the Lord has so generously comforted me during this time.  When you read this Psalm, perhaps the promise found in the first verse will have a different meaning, but for me this rich Psalm has warmed my heart.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)

(Bible Reading with Scripture/ Words)

By Bible Reading

“How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.

“He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers.” Psalms 1:1-2

The idea of being blessed by the Lord!  To be like a tree that is planted near water.  A tree that has fruit…we all long to do that, if the Lord has captured our hearts and saved us.

Interesting, in a world so crowded by ‘social media messages’ and constant reminders of temptations wherever we go, the Psalmist could not be more clear…be careful what you pay attention to and the people you associate with.  Take time to meditate and stay close to the Father.  It is what will bring fruit and delight!

By God Questions Ministries (7 min 11 Sec)

“Now when Job’s three friends heard of all this adversity that had come upon him, they came each one from his own place, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamatite, and they made an appointment together to come to sympathise with him and comfort him.

“When they lifted up their eyes at a distance and did not recognise him, they raised their voices and wept.  And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.  Then they sat down on the ground with him for seven days and seven nights with no one speaking a word to him, for they saw that his pain was very great.” Job 2:11-13

I was surprised that there are no ‘recognised’ promises in the book of Job and was just going to skip it and move on, and yet, I had to wonder.  The book of Job is brimming with huge lessons and one of them is silence.

The wise silence of Jobs three friends, who once they opened their mouths, were either accusatory or completely wrong with their advice.  The obvious and perplexing silence of God through it all.

Some look at the book of Job and think it is a story about God playing ‘cat and mouse’ with man, but it is SO much more!

Sometimes we too may think that God is playing cruel cosmic jokes on helpless puppets, but He knows all.  His timing is so perfect we do not even have the capacity to recognise it.  But most critical of all, His love is so immense and unfathomable that we are never able to understand it.

Just think.  He promised to find a perfect solution to the sinful choices we all make every day.  When He discovered it, even recognising the personal cost to Him, He chose to use that solution for us, knowing it would take the life of His only Son Jesus Christ.

When God seems to not be paying attention to your prayers and your knees are sore, do not give up because the ‘effectual prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much’.  (James 5:16) because He promised.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you daily)
