‘How should we pray for our leaders?
By Ligonier
Ministries (3 mins 27 sec)
[Samuel speaking to Israel] “’When you saw that Nahash
the king of the sons of Ammon came against you, you said to me, ‘No, but a king
shall reign over us,’ although the Lord your God WAS your king. Now therefore, here is the king whom you have
chosen, whom you have asked for, and behold the Lord has set a king over
you.
“’If you will fear the Lord and serve Him, and listen to His
voice and not rebel against the command of the Lord, then both you and the king
who reigns over you will follow the Lord your God.
“’If you will not listen to the voice of the Lord, but
rebel against the command of the Lord, then the hand of the Lord will be
against you, as it was against your fathers.’” I Samuel
12:12-18
It is easy to forget in daily circumstances that the Lord is
always moving in our lives for our good and His glory, even when you wonder if He
is paying attention. In I Samuel the
people rejected the leadership by the Lord for the leadership of a man and
there was a price to pay for this that the people did not anticipate.
When it comes to leaders or managers, all of us have
experienced good ones and those we believe could do better. Sometimes we actively voice our opinion and even
work against a leader we don’t agree with or like. However, God would have us be thankful for
our leaders and pray for them because His hand is mightier than ours and we
need to trust more that He knows best.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you daily)
