“And after weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and they kneeled down before Him and mocked Him saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’  And they spat on Him, and they took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.

“And after they mocked Him, they took His robe off and put His garments on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.  And as they were coming out, they found a man of Cyrene named Simon, whom they pressed into service to bear His cross.  And when they had come to a place called Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull,

“they gave Him wine to drink mingled with gall; and after tasting it, He was unwilling to drink.  And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among themselves, casting lots; and sitting down, they began to keep watch over Him there.”  Matthew 27:29-36

The Cross revealed the kind of world we have (even today).  It also revealed the wonder of our God in a world of gross unfairness -- a God whose love is greater than the payment He was forced to make for our disappointments, disobediences -- our choice of sin.

None of us can escape tragedy or disappointment – God Himself was not exempt.  Jesus offered no immunity, no way out of the unfairness.  He choose to walk through it to the other side.  Good Friday demolished the instinctive belief that this life is supposed to be fair.  Easter Sunday follows with its startling clue to the riddle of the universe.  Out of the darkness, a bright light.

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

In Christ Alone - Taryn Harbridge

“Do not fret because of evildoers,

be not envious toward wrongdoers.

For they will wither quickly like the grass,

and fade like the green herb.

Trust in the Lord and do good;

dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the Lord;

and He will give you the desires of your heart.

“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him,

and He will do it.

And He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,

and your judgment as the noonday.

“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him;

 do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,

 because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.

Cease from anger and forsake wrath.

Do not fret, it leads only to evildoing,

for evildoers will be cut off,

but those who wait for the Lord, they will inherit the land.

Yet a little while and the wicked man will be no more;

and you will look carefully for his place,

and he will not be there.

But the humble will inherit the land

and will delight themselves in abundant prosperity.”

Psalm 37:1-11

ASSIGNMENT:

Pray.  Read those amazing words and the promise they hold for you.  Think about it!  You must delight yourself in the Lord because His desires are more important than your desires.  You must learn to be content with what God provides for you.

As you increasingly take delight in Him, your desires will increasingly match His.  Then, you WILL get what you desire.  God gives the very best to those who leave the choices with Him!

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

I Know (Official Lyric Video) by BDWMusic

[Jesus teaching] “’And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him, or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you.’

“’These things I have spoken to you, while abiding with you.  But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.’

“’When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me,’

“’But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.  And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment;

"'-- But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is the come.’  John 14:16, 26, 15:26, 16:7-8, 13

Dr. Paul Brand wrote in his book Where is God When it Hurts?, that God is not far away, ‘He is in you, the one hurting, not in it, the thing that hurts.’

Life SHOULD be good and life SHOULD be fair because God is fair and He is good.  But God is NOT life!  When you confuse God with the physical reality of life – by expecting constant good health, for example -- then you set yourself up for a crashing disappointment.

When a new believe I struggled with God understanding what it meant to be a girl.  How could He understand all the special struggles, hopes, dreams and the ‘sugar and spice’ of being feminine?  And then I learned about the Truth-bringer who lived within me.  Think about it!

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

The 4 Opinions About God is Unfair – FOUR

Jesus, Keep Me near the Cross - EPIC version! (In Russian)

Simon Khorolskiy

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not as a result of works, that no one should boast.  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:4-10

DENY – If you just deny something, it will go away.  Deny problems.  Insist the world DOES run sensibly.  There are fixed, regular laws:  good people prosper, evil ones fail.

This is why the ‘prosperity gospel’ is so easy to be sucked into.  Who wouldn’t want to believe that the good guys always win -- that God blesses the good and punishes the bad?

The prosperity gospel wants you to believe that you can confidently command God and know He will obey!   Just believe harder, pray positively and you will get rich and be healed of all ills.

But God has a plan for each of us -- as beyond our comprehension as His love is beyond our comprehension.  He knows there are lessons we must wander or struggle through to be strong and ready for the next step in the path for our good and His glory.

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)

The 4 Opinions of God is Unfair – THREE

Ezekiel 36:24-28 Song (NKJV)

"A New Heart, A New Spirit" (Esther Mui)

[God speaking] “’And her prophets have smeared whitewash for them, seeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken.

“’The people of the land have practiced oppression and committed robbery, and they have wronged the poor and the needy and have oppressed the sojourner without justice.

“’And I searched for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.

“’Thus I have poured our My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; their way I have brought upon their heads,’ declares the Lord God.” Ezekiel 22:28-31

THREE – Future justice - Just wait!  God is going to come down hard on all those sinners.  Karma is a Hindu doctrine that applies a mathematical precision to belief.  It calculates that one individual soul may have to be reincarnated 6,800,000 times to realise their god’s perfect justice.  At the end of all those incarnations each person will experience exactly the amount of pain and pleasure the he or she deserves.

There are times we all long for God to stamp out injustice, pain, sorrow, confusion and suffering.  We wonder why He is missing so much of what is going on.  Sometimes we may have a secret delight when someone ‘gets what we think they deserve’.

God doesn’t miss a thing and His ways are perfect, even when He is drawing a world of individuals to Him.  He is all powerful and all-knowing and the end is as much in His hands at the beginning was.  Our part is to be ready to ‘stand in the gap’ when He calls.

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)
