“And after weaving a crown of thorns, they put it on His
head, and a reed in His right hand; and they kneeled down before Him and mocked
Him saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’
And they spat on Him, and they took the reed and began to beat Him on
the head.
“And after they mocked Him, they took His robe off and
put His garments on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him. And as they were coming out, they found a man
of Cyrene named Simon, whom they pressed into service to bear His cross. And when they had come to a place called
Golgotha, which means Place of a Skull,
“they gave Him wine to drink mingled with gall; and after
tasting it, He was unwilling to drink.
And when they had crucified Him, they divided up His garments among
themselves, casting lots; and sitting down, they began to keep watch over Him
there.” Matthew 27:29-36
The Cross revealed the kind of world we have (even today). It also revealed the wonder of our God in a
world of gross unfairness -- a God whose love is greater than the payment He
was forced to make for our disappointments, disobediences -- our choice of sin.
None of us can escape tragedy or disappointment – God Himself
was not exempt. Jesus offered no
immunity, no way out of the unfairness.
He choose to walk through it to the other side. Good Friday demolished the instinctive belief
that this life is supposed to be fair.
Easter Sunday follows with its startling clue to the riddle of the universe. Out of the darkness, a bright light.
Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who
prays for you each morning.)

Isaias and Judith
(Ambassadors for Christ the Philippines) – the Philippines is a
remarkably difficult mission field and Isaias and Judith and their entire
family have maintained a teaching and discipling ministry there for dozens of
years. It is a difficult mission field
for so many reasons. Please take a
moment to visit their new website: https://afcph.org/ to learn more. Pray our Father keep these servants strong,
in good health, safe and supported and that they keep a balance in their
lives. They
need funds badly now. It would only take a moment to send encouragement
to Isaias Catorce, who teaches and leads the groups at icatorce@gmail.com
