‘My God, In Him Will I Trust’ (Esther Mui)
“Immediately the word concerning Nebuchadnezzar was
fulfilled; and he was driven away from mankind and began eating grass like
cattle, and his body was drenched with the dew of heaven, until his hair had
grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws.
“But at the end of that period I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised
my eyes toward heaven and my reason had returned to me, and I blessed the Most
High and praised and honoured Him who lives forever; for His dominion is an
everlasting dominion. And His kingdom
endures from generation to generation.
And all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing.
“But He does according to His will in the host of heaven
and among the inhabitants of earth; and no one can ward off His hand or say to
Him, ‘What hast Thou done?’” Daniel 4:33-35
Life is unfair. Just
read the book of Job or look at your own life.
God should somehow ‘do a better job’ of running the world. As a baseline -- as Job and his friends
discuss what is going on -- they all agree:
God SHOULD reward those who do good and punish those who do evil.
Makes perfect sense, doesn’t it? Yet, it takes the entire book of Job to see
that God knows what He is doing -- even when we do not -- and as Nebuchadnezzar
discovered God always has His reasons that we will rarely, if ever, understand.’
Perhaps the book of Job is really the primary book to look
to when we doubt and need to dust off trust.
What we see from our side of the situation is not the same view as from
His perspective!
Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who
prays for you each morning.)
