The Last Word

“The oracle of the word of the Lord to Israel through Malachi.  ‘I have loved you,’ says the Lord.  But you say, ‘How hast Thou loved us?’  ‘Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?’ declares the Lord.  ‘Yet I have loved Jacob; but I have hated Esau, and I have made his mountains a desolation, and appointed his inheritance for the jackals of the wilderness.’

“Though Edom says, ‘We have been beaten down, but we will return and build up the ruins’; thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘They may build, but I will tear down; and men will call them the wicked territory, and the people toward whom the Lord is indignant forever.’  And your eyes will see this and you will say, ‘The Lord be magnified beyond the border of Israel!’” Malachi 1:1-5

Malachi served the Lord in a very corrupt time in Israel’s history.  Consider the similarities with today as we investigate this last book written to God’s people until Jesus ministry began 400 years later.

The time of Malachi was plagued with corrupt priests, wicked practices and a false sense of security in their privilege relationship as God’s chosen people.  Their problems were many:  hypocrisy, infidelity, mixed marriages, divorce, false worship and arrogance.  It was a time when people no longer even cared about reading or heeding God’s Word!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in an unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest on You alone.
·        Deborah’s sister – this is an unspoken request and urgent.
·        Edna – the wife of the staff evangelist (Philippines Ambassadors for Christ – see below ‘full-time service’) was rushed back to the hospital to be put on dialysis.  They need your prayers for the restoration of her health, the wisdom of the doctors and that the Lord provides for their growing financial needs.
·        Sergio – lost his job and now looking again.  He was recently diagnosed with adult-onset diabetes.  Was living with his brother, but has been asked to move out, leaving him homeless.
·        Claudio – Has had a disappointing setback and needs prayers for encouragement in his battle with liver cancer.  Pray for his health carers to be compassionate and wise and for Elea, his wife, that she has the extra strength and hope to hold his hand through this.
·        Sue Furbee and husband, Sam – no additional updates but please keep praying for her recovery and for Sam’s care and devotion.  For more information and to make a contribution for the high costs of the procedures visit their GoFundMe page:  https://www.gofundme.com/sue-furbee
·        Buddy & Susan Father, You know their needs as they travel home to the States for their first furlough in over 20 years.  Guard their health and provide travelling mercies and the kindness of Your special angels along their journey.  Bless them with the warmth and welcome that only family and real friends provide!
·        Toron – finishing his high school studies and needing strength, focus and confidence, especially with maths.
