“Because of his strength I will
watch for You, for God is my stronghold.
My God in His loving kindness will meet me; God will let me look
triumphantly upon my foes.
“Do not slay them, or my people
will forget; scatter them by Your power, and bring them down, O Lord, our
shield. On account of the sin of their
mouth and the words of their lips, let them even be caught in their pride,
“and on account of curses and lies
which they utter, destroy [consume] them in wrath, destroy [consume] them that they may be no
more; that men may know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth.” Psalm 59:9-13
God doesn’t do what we expect in
our lives and the same could be said for king David. He wrote this Psalm when he was being hunted
by Saul’s men to find and kill him. David
had been the favourite of the people after killing Goliath and then someone who
pleased King Saul.
At the time of writing this Psalm
even his sons had grown jealous of him and their love had changed to
hatred. Yet, David knew and trusted that
even though all turned away, he could always count on the love and grace of
God. And that is still true today for
you and me. Isn’t that NEAT!
Take care with love, especially
His! Your servant and friend in Christ,
who still prays for you each morning.
Darlene
