POWER AND DOMINION

“The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many islands be glad.  Clouds and think darkness surround Him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.  Fire goes before Him and burns up [consumes]  His adversaries round about.

“His lightnings lit up the world; the earth saw and trembled.  The mountains melted like way at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.  The heavens declare His righteousness, and all the peoples have seen His glory.” Psalm 97:1-6

Some resist the Lord’s appeal and gift of grace because they argue that either God is unaware of what’s going on down here or He doesn’t have the power or the interest to change things.

There was a very popular book that was written by a Jewish Rabbi that underlined this.  The Rabbi had lost a son and needed a way to understand his personal tragedy.  He wrote, When Bad Things Happen to Good People and many believed it was the truth.

When bad things happen in our world -- close to us or in faraway places – as tempting as it may be to blame God or question His wisdom or abilities, we must trust Him.

God’s hand is never too short, nor His eye unable to see what is happening.  He is all-powerful.  He also knows every past, present and future situation and His purpose is to grow us up into the image of His Son, Jesus Christ.  All He allows is done for our good and His glory.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

PS:  Please pray for this ministry.  This is the 20th year of endeavouring to serve others in His name to offer a smattering of Scripture daily.  Find my statement of faith by clicking (or cut and paste this link into your Web browser):  https://especiallyhislove.blogspot.com   You can find the WeakDay Devotion online by doing a Google search for “WeakDay Devotion”  (Also, there is a “Google Blogger” App you can download to read them on your phone.)

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

  • ·        Those in the path of Hurricane Dorian The Lord controls the weather and His might is mightier than any storm.  It is times like this that helps remind us.  Pray for the Bahamas, where over 40 people have been found dead so far.  Pray for those who remain in the path of the hurricane.  Especially the emergency workers and that people will take wise action to avoid the storms.
  • ·        Gary McQ – will have major heart surgery (quadruple valve replacement) later this month.  Pray he is surrounded by family and friends as he goes through this journey.  Pray for his strength, courage and for his heart to be at peace, as the Lord guides the hands of the surgeons and other health carers to repair his physical heart.
  • ·        Terri – her relationship of 13 years has just broken and she needs prayers to travel through this journey.
  • ·        Tracey – after nearly three years, is losing a role she has enjoyed.  She needs our prayers to relax into the changes upon her.
  • ·        Fred – for travelling mercies and new insights as he begins a journey by car across the USA.

  • ·        Ray (see above) and thank you Lord for his cancer being in remission.

  • ·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.  And let the truth of God’s Word and ways overcome the drive to destroy our founding Bible-based values.

  • ·        Toron Thank you for praying.  He is now a high school graduate.  It was a challenge for him in many ways.  His birthday is in a few days.  Thank you for continuing to pray that he does not lose momentum.
