Sheep or Goats?

"'I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel.  I will put them together like sheep in the fold; like a flock in the midst of its pasture they will be noisy with men.

"The breaker goes up before them; they break out, pass through the gate, and go out by it.  So their king goes on before them, and the Lord at their head.'" Micah 2:12-13

God chose sheep as His illustration for His children for some very good reasons.  Here we see a reference to sheep being contained within a stone enclosure.  "The breaker" is the one whose job it was to make an opening within the stone wall so the sheep could go out.

Yet sheep need someone to follow and here, although the "alpha-sheep" went out, they only followed the Lord.  Coincidentally a special friend of mine put this on their Facebook page, just yesterday:

"An old friend of mine (who's raised both sheep and goats) said:  'Goats are friendly and sociable, but sheep are stubborn and stupid.'  When I asked why he thought God compared His people to sheep, he answered:  'Because a goat will follow anybody anywhere...but a sheep only follows the voice of his shepherd.'  I thought that was an answer worth remembering."

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
