by Pastor Greg Laurie

“Now the two men, angelic beings, turned away from there and toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord.  Abraham approached the Lord and said, ‘Will You really sweep away the righteous, whose who do right, with the wicked those who do evil?  Suppose there are fifty righteous people within the city; will You really sweep ait away and not spare it for the same of the fifty righteous who are in it?

“’Far be it from You to do such a thing – to strike the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike.  Far be it from You!  Shall not the judge of all the earth do right, by executing just and righteous judgment?’ Genesis 18:22-255

“The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven.  His eyes see, His eyelids test the children of men.  The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and His soul hates the malevolent one who loves violence.

Upon the wicked, godless, He will rain coals of fire; fire and brimstone and a dreadful scorching wind will be the portion of their cup of doom.  For the Lord is absolutely righteous.  He loves righteousness, virtue, morality and justice; the upright shall see His face.” Psalm 11:4-7

“God must always judge sin.  His justice is not blind; His holiness demands the death penalty.  Because God knows all things, His judgment is righteous.[1]

We have learned over our lifetimes to rationalise sin and sinful behaviour.  We almost unconsciously rationalise death, theft, cruelty and every kind of greed and envy.  Daily we are bombarded by ideas that would ‘soften’ our response and ability to see sin by a worldly media that we have been trained to indulge in.

At this time in history, with the COVID virus keeping us from working, away from family and from gathering together in His name, it is important to be even more vigilant because sin is crouching at the door of all of our hearts.  And God will always judge sin.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you each day)
