Sheila Walsh from Eric
[Jesus speaking] ‘ …for the Son of Man has come to seek and
to save that which was lost.’” Luke 19:10
“While we were still helpless and powerless to provide for
our salvation, at the right time Christ died as a substitute for the
ungodly. Now it is an extraordinary
thing for one to willingly give his life even for an upright man, though
perhaps for a good man – one who is noble and selfless and worthy -- someone
might even dare to die. But God clearly
shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“By this the love of God was displayed in us, in that God
has sent His One and only begotten Son, the One who is truly unique, the only
One of His kind into the world so that we might live through Him.
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us
and sent His Son to be the propitiation – that is, the atoning sacrifice, and
the satisfying offering – for our sins, fulfilling God’s requirements for
justice against sin and placating His wrath.” I John 4:9-10 (all quotes from The
Amplified Bible)
“God hates sin, but He loves the souls of sinners. The love of God is poured out upon a guilty
world by the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary for our sin. His atonement is sufficient for the whole
world, but efficient [effective] only to those who receive Him as their
personal saviour.[1]”
Man can never reach God, no matter how hard they try because
they choose sin over righteousness. God
established His judgment - the penalty for sin was death and eternal separation
from His presence -- those who sin cannot enter His heaven.
Justice for sin must be satisfied. Because of this, we are completely cut off
from God the Father. Until Jesus chose
to live out God’s plan to satisfy His requirement to save us, there was no
hope. When Jesus died on the Cross --
although those who loved Him on earth thought all was lost -- and rose from the
dead, He conquered the power of sin and death over us for all eternity.
He is our only hope because His love reaches out to each person
in an effort to save them. Such love
cannot be imagined because only God can love in such a way.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you each day)
