“And so we have the prophetic
word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining
in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your
hearts. But know this first of all, that
no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no
prophecy was ever made by the act of human will, but men moved by the Holy
Spirit spoke from God.
“But false prophets also arose
among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will
secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought
them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. And many will follow their sensuality and
because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; and in their greed they
will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle,
and their destruction is not asleep”
II Peter 1:21
“We
do not take the Bible seriously because of WHAT it says, but because of WHO is
saying it. If we accept the Bible
because we happen to like what it says, we are in no more virtuous a position
than the person who rejects the Bible because they do not like what it says! The Holy Spirit performs divine activities,
in fact, whenever God does something great, the Holy Spirit is active.”*
One
of my dearest friends and I were sharing our sadness about the loss of clarity
with the message of grace and hope for the world...and so much of this rests on
a lack of focus on what the Bible says.
The Holy Spirit works constantly in our hearts to help us respect the
will of the Father in our re-creation and spiritual growth...but we must read
His word and listen for what it means.
Take
care with love, especially His! Your
servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
