“Therefore
consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity,
passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is on account of these things that the
wrath of God will come, and in them you also once walked, when you were living
in them.
"But
now you also, put them aside: anger,
wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you laid
aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is
being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created
him –
"...a
renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised,
and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but in Christ is
all, and in all.” Colossians 3:5-11
“For
now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but
then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known.” I Corinthians 13:12
If you take a moment (now if possible) to
read and think about these verses – even reciting them softly to yourself,
you’ll begin to realise and appreciate the gentle power of God’s housecleaning
initiative in your heart. As we head
toward Easter, this is something we can do in response to His demonstrated
love.
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays
for you each morning, Darlene
