“Therefore putting aside all filthiness
and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the Word implanted,
which is able to save your souls.
"But prove yourselves doers of the
Word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
"For if anyone is a hearer of the
Word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a
mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately
forgotten what kind of person he was.
"But one who looks intently at the
perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a
forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he
does.” James 1:20-25
Have you ever watched a child see his
reflection in a mirror for the first time?
There’s a distinct stage they seem to go through where they’re
completely fascinated with studying their reflection.
When we’re reborn into God’s family,
typically, we begin reading God’s Word with the same enthusiasm as a child has
for a mirror. God’s Word is like the
gift of a heart-mirror.
He wants us to gaze at the perfection of
His Son, see our hearts for what they are without Him, and make His image our
new purpose in life.
“But we all, with unveiled face beholding
as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image
from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” II Corinthians 3:18
Take care with love, especially His! Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays
for you each morning, Darlene
