Dying to Live

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.'" John 14:6

"- always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.  For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.  So death works in us, but life in you.

"But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, 'I believed, therefore I spoke,' we also believe, therefore also we speak; knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and will present us with you.

"For all things are for your sakes, that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God." - II Corinthians 4:10- 15

There are many ways to die in this world other than physically.  We can "die" from embarrassment.  We can "die" socially or at work when we are no longer effective in the "right" way.

We can "die" in the eyes of our family and loved ones when we disappoint them or become dead to their love.  We can even "die" in our own eyes when we fail at something we're determined to do.

Yet the death we must die is a death to our own desires - our self-preoccupation with what will make us happy or successful. This death results in true life and is only available through prayer.

Only Jesus offers this death and resurrection as a new creature in Christ.  Only after this death can we work the work He has left behind for us.

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die.  Do you believe this?'" John 11:25-26

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
