Lie to Me

“But a certain man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and kept back some of the price for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostles’ feet.

“But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back some of the price of the land?  While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own?  And after it was sold, was it not under your control?  Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart?  You have not lied to men, but to God.’”  Acts 5:1--4

“All of the qualities which we have listed above teach us that the Holy Spirit is a person, who thinks and acts freely and independently, and who is capable of feeling both joy and pain.”*

The book of Acts is sort of like an introduction to the “job description” or role that the Holy Spirit can take in our lives.  He never leaves us!  He is always there to support and help us and teach us ... and yet, sometimes we sort of think He goes on a holiday or off in a room away from us, so we can do things we know grieve Him.  Sometimes we deny this and this is lying to Him.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
