Fill'er Up!

“’But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.  And He, when He comes will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgment; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me; and concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world has been judged.

“’I have many more things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own imitative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” John 16:7-13

“Because the Holy Spirit is a person, we must not think of Him as a power to be used or exploited.  If we do think of Him in impersonal terms we will be tempted to think of Him as someone to be used, to take advantage of in the way I might think of making use of the electricity supply to my home to accomplish all sorts of things.”*

What a significant thought:  that the Holy Spirit is not a “gas pump” or “power point/plug outlet”, but a unique Person.  As I wrote this today, I prayed to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s feelings, because sometimes it is easy to forget He is here to help me understand and fulfil my part in God’s plan.  How much He must wonder at my commitment to the grace of my Saviour sometimes!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
