Go Between

“For we know the creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.  And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

“For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one also hope for what he sees?

“And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” Romans 8:26-27

“There are times when we have no idea of how we should pray.  But the Holy Spirit takes the burden that is on our hearts, and He interprets it to the Father, putting it through the sifting of God’s will, so that our burden and our groaning become an intelligent prayer, wholly consistent with the will of God.”*

Some say you must kneel when you pray, others say you must fold your hands; some tell you looking up to the heavens is the way, or that you must lift your hands above your head, bow your head, sit, stand, bob and weave.

And then there are the words to say:  is it Thee and Thou, Father-God, Friend, the Holy Spirit?  Is my prayer invalid if I forget to seal it with “in Jesus name I pray”?

At the end of all the discussion stands the Holy Spirit, loving us as the Father does and serving us as Jesus did and in so many ways we will never know.  The greatest, I believe, is how He faithfully prays with and for us.  You see position or grammar or what we say is not as important as our heart attitude.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
