Forgive & Forget?

“For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.  So then as through one transgression there resulted condemnation to all men, even so through one act of righteousness there resulted justification of life to all men.  For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.

“And the Law came in that the transgression might increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5:12-13, 17-21

[Once we give our lives to Christ and accept God’s grace for eternal life] “God who knows all things will never recall what He knows about me, never call me to account for it, never use it as ammunition against me, and never condemn me for it.  He will ‘remember it no more’ and treat me as though my sin never took place.  We have the ability to forgive, but do not have the ability to forget as readily!”*

When I think about it personally, it seems the most amazing quality of God is His grace.  It is His grace that empowers his ability to forgive and to choose to wipe the slate clean and love us unconditionally.  That is not a quality we share since the Fall and although we can purpose to “forget” we are not like God when He makes a promise!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
