And There's MORE !

“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord  Jesus Christ, through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we exult in hope of the glory of God.

“And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character, and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” Romans 5:1-5

“In a similar way, vital and wonderful as it is to be forgiven for our sin (and not for one moment do we belittle the significance of that), that is neither what makes us a Christian nor fulfils the purpose of being a Christian.  It is only a means to the end.  It makes possible the coming of the Holy Spirit into the life of the forgiven person, to live the life of Jesus Christ within them and reproduce the character of Jesus Christ through them.

“This is why it’s sad to meet Christians, who, whilst being very grateful for their forgiveness have never got around to enjoying the purpose of their forgiveness by living in the energy of the Holy Spirit.”*

This is a big thought and I hope you will spend time meditating on this over the weekend.  You might want to print out this devotion and carry it around with you so you can bring it to mind while you do other things.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
