“ … for you have been born again, that is, reborn from
above – spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose, not of
seed which is perishable but from that which is imperishable and immortal, that
is, through the living and everlasting word of God. For ‘All flesh is like grass, and all its
glory like the flower or grass, the grass withers and the flower falls off, but
the Word of the Lord endures forever.’
“And this is the Word, the good news of salvation which
was preached to you. So put aside every
trace of malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander and
hateful speech; like newborn babies you should long for the pure milk of the
Word, so that by it you may be nurtured and grow in respect to salvation – its ultimate
fulfilment,” I Peter 1:23-2:2
“Open my eyes to spiritual truth so that I may behold
wonderful things from Your law.” Psalm 119:18
“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He
loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation – that is, the atoning
sacrifice, and the satisfying offering for our sins, fulfilling God’s
requirement for justice against sin and placating His wrath.” I John 1:10
If you desire to understand the message of the Bible, there
are three steps you must take consistently, like dancing a waltz - one, two,
three; one, two, three.
ONE - Read and study it
every day. The more often we read it
the clear it becomes. And this is a
life-time endeavour. The Word is always
fresh and new every day. The meaning
never changes, but our insight into what it means grows as we mature in Christ.
TWO – Pray as you read. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you focus and
consider what you are reading. How does
it apply to today in a practical way?
What might today’s reading mean for another person you meet today to
encourage them in their walk?
THREE – Love the Author. The Bible IS God’s personal love-letter to us. As with any relationship, the closer you
grow, the more you know the other person, the clearer you understand them and
what they mean for your life.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you each day)
