ZOPHAR GOT SOMETHING RIGHT!

[Zophar continues] “’In the fullness of his plenty he will be cramped; the hand of everyone who suffers will come against him.  When he fills his belly, God will send His fierce anger on him and will rain it on him while he is eating.

“’He may flee from the iron weapon, but the bronze bow will pierce him.  It is drawn forth and comes out of his back, even the glittering point from his gall.  Terrors come upon him, complete darkness is held in reserve for his treasures, and unfanned fire will devour him; it will consume the survivor in his tent.

“’The heavens will reveal his iniquity and the earth will rise up against him.  The increase of his house will depart.  His possessions will flow away in the day of His anger.  This is the wicked man’s portion from God, even the heritage decreed to him by God.’” Job 20:22-29

Although Zophar was wrong railing against Job, thinking Job was self-righteous and/ or unfairly blessed, he was correct about the final end of evil people.

Sin can seem so attractive, so enjoyable.  Lying, stealing or bullying others often seems to result in gain to those who practice these things.  Some live a long time with ill-gotten gain.  In the end, God’s justice will prevail.

What Zophar missed is that judgment for sin may not come in the lifetime of the sinner.  God may defer punishment until the last judgment for His own plan.

Yet sinners who do not accept Jesus’ free and gracious payment will be eternally cut off from God.  Don’t be impressed with the success and power of evil people.   God’s judgment on them is certain.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

  • ·        Jackie, a Christian woman (just lost her husband, her only two daughters within the last six weeks and her only son two years ago),.  Pray for her strength and grace, the love and understanding of others as she must live through this time.  Pray for Fred (her friend) for wisdom and warmth as he reaches out to comfort her and help share this time with her.
  • ·        Gary McQ – his major heart surgery has been delayed a month.  He will have a quadruple valve replacement.  Pray he is surrounded by family and friends as he goes through this journey.  Pray for his strength, courage and for his heart to be at peace as the Lord guides the hands of the surgeons and other health carers to repair his physical heart.
  • ·        Ray’s Dad -  (also called Ray) has been diagnosed with cancer.  Please pray that through this difficult and scary time, the Lord would touch his heart so he reaches out for the only hand that can save him, the compassionate Lord Jesus.
  • ·        Simon Flinders (my pastor) and family – now on long-service leave.   Pray for their refreshment and deepening of family bonds.  Pray the family enjoys time to focus on the love of their Saviour and all the gifts and blessings He has provided them.
  • ·        USA – that the Lord would demonstrate His power in unexpected and uniting way during these times of unrest and confusion.  Help hearts settle and rest in Him alone.  And let the truth of God’s Word and ways overcome the drive to destroy our founding values.
  • ·        Jen – my sweet friend in the UK, slowly recovering from a blood clot that means she must patiently rest.  Her heart is troubled though, as her precious companion dog, Honey, is also growing very frail.
  • ·        Sergio – found a job for now, but it is wearing him out physically.  His diabetes is under control and he’s found a place to live.  Thank you for praying and please do not stop.
  • ·        Toron finishing his high school studies needs your prayers for continued strength, focus and confidence, especially that he will study hard for his final exams.  His graduation will be 29 August!
  • ·        Me The Lord seems to be working out something new in my life right now.  Please pray for my wisdom, TRUST and patience.

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
