CityAlight – Grace

[Jesus teaching] “’All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son, except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father, except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

“’Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you shall find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy, and My load is light.’” Matthew 11:27-30

My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth.  Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them.

“How precious also are Thy thoughts to me, O God!  How fast is the sum of them!  If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand.  When I awake, I am still with Thee.’” Psalm 139:15-18

I spoke with Fred, a lifetime friend, this weekend.  He shared how he had been at lunch with a friend of his this past Thursday-- a man vital with life and healthy and reasonably happy.  Yet, this morning he learned his friend passed away suddenly.

But wait, there’s more.  Two years ago the couple lost their only son.  And still more tragedy.  In the previous six weeks, the couple’s two daughters both passed away.

Fred knew he needed to call the wife and yet was beside him as to what he could even say.  I shared how in the book of Job, there was a moment when Job’s friends, confronted with the enormity of Job’s many and significant tragedies, came and simply sat silently with him.

No one tried to say or imagine they understood or had an idea how to get through the pain.  They just sat with him and let him know they were there -- as he suffered.

Please pray for Jackie, a Christian woman, who needs strength and grace and the love and understanding of others as she must live through this time.  Pray for Fred’s wisdom and warmth as he reaches out to comfort her and help share this time with her.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene

NEW PRAYER REQUESTS

  • ·        El Paso (22 people killed – 27 wounded) and Dayton Ohio (9 dead – 26 wounded)- by random shooters.  Pray for the families and friends affected, the witnesses and law enforcement officers affected. Continue to pray for the skill and compassion of the health care providers (physical and emotional) dealing with those wounded.  Finally, pray these two cities look to the Great Comforter as they begin to recover and heal and that the nation bows the knee to Christ.
  • ·        Dale – Pray for his bodily healing, that doctors do not overprescribe for his pain, for restoration of a lifetime friendship and, most of all, for clarity of Salvation.
  • ·        Gary McQ – his major heart surgery has been delayed a month.  He will have a quadruple valve replacement.  Pray he is surrounded by family and friends as he goes through this journey.  Pray for his strength, courage and for his heart to be at peace as the Lord guides the hands of the surgeons and other health carers to repair his physical heart.
  • ·        Ray’s Dad -  (also called Ray) has been diagnosed with cancer.  Please pray that through this difficult and scary time that the Lord would touch his heart so he reaches out for the only hand that can save him, the compassionate Lord Jesus.
  • ·        Simon Flinders (my pastor) and family – now on long-service leave.   Pray for their refreshment and deepening of family bonds.  Pray the family enjoys time to focus on the love of their Saviour and all the gifts and blessings He has provided them.
