Honeytree – Clean Before the Lord

[Now Bildad shares his opinion on what God is doing with Job] “Then Bildad the Shuhite responded, ‘How long will you hunt for words?  Show understanding and then we can talk …

“’Indeed, the light of the wicked goes out, and the flame of his fire gives no light.  The light in his tent is darkened, and his lamp goes out above him …

“’All around terrors frightened him, and harry him at every step.  His strength is famished.  And calamity is ready at his side.  His skin is devoured [consumed] by disease, the first born of death devours his limbs.  He is torn from the security of his tent, and they march him before the kings of terrors.’” Job 18:1, 5-14

Bildad spoke from his experience and all he knew of how the universe should b run.  He thought Job was an illustration of the consequences of Job’s sin.  It did not matter what Job shared with is ‘friend’ because Bildad knew better.  How utterly frustrating for Job!

It is easy to see Bildad as the bad guy here, because he is so clearly wrong.  However, we need to consider how often we make this same mistake.  Only God sees all and knows all past, present and future.  And only God works His ways for our good and His glory!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning.  Darlene
