Favourite Places?

“By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down and wept, when we remembered Zion. Upon the willows in the midst of it we hung our harps. For there our captors demanded of us songs, and our tormentors mirth, saying, ‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion.’ How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land? If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget her skill. May my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you.” Psalm 137:1-6a

“’Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in and steal; for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.’” Matthew 6:19-221

We all have our favourite places we treasure – places we have liked (or like) living, places we like to visit or dream about visiting; we have certain places within our favourite places where we like to stand or walk or sit. We have favourite ways to get to places we enjoy. Sometimes we imagine it’s the places themselves that are special – that we can’t ever have the same happiness or joy or accomplishment or that there will be no new friends or challenges in new places or just places that aren’t our favourite. But God meets us where we are, we just need to see Him.

PS: Carla leaves on Monday to Jamaica for her father’s funeral and to be with her mom, now home from the hospital. Pray for all of them and for Carla as she travels to and through this. Continue to pray for David and Adrian with ongoing health battles. Pray for Tim and Barb who I miss so much.
