55
“But evil men and impostors will go on from bad to worse,
deceiving and being deceived. But as for
you, continue in the things that you have learned and of which you are
convinced, holding tightly to the truths, knowing from whom you learned them,
and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings –
“ ... Hebrew Scriptures- which are able to give you the wisdom
that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus – surrendering
your entire self to Him and having absolute confidence in His wisdom, power and
goodness.
“As Scripture is God-breathed – given by Divine
inspiration – and is profitable for instruction, for conviction of sin, for
correction of error and restoration to obedience, for training in righteousness
– learning to live in conformity to God’s will, bot publicly and privately –
“ ... behaving honourably with personal integrity and moral
courage; so that the man of God may be complete and proficient, outfitted and
thoroughly equipped for every good work.” II Timothy 3:13-17
As for every Weakend assignment, find an hour and place
where you will not be disturbed. Have
your Bible, notebook, something to write with and a refreshment. Settle in and quiet your heart. Then pray the Lord will help you focus on His
Word and listen for where it applies to your life.
Open your Bible to the book of Mark and read through the
first chapter (you can read as much as you want, of course, but for the
assignment, we will stay in chapter 1). See
if you can find the answers to these questions.
(It is an open Book challenge):
1. What
is the book of Mark about? (Chapter 1:1)
2. Who
is the first character named (after Jesus)?
What was he doing?
3. Who
came from Nazareth of Galilee and for what reason?
4. What
happened right after?
5. What
happened to John next?
6. Where
was Jesus walking next?
7. Who
is the first disciple Jesus picks?
8. How
many other disciples did Jesus select in this chapter?
9. Where
did they go after this with Jesus?
10.
Who did they meet in that place?
11.
What was the first miracle in the book of Mark?
12.
What was the second miracle and who benefitted?
13.
Where did Jesus go early in the morning and for
what reason?
14.
Who did Jesus heal after this? (Bonus if you can say why it was so important
that Jesus touched him.)
15.
What did Jesus ask the man not to do? (Bonus if you can imagine why He asked this
so early in His ministry.)
Your opinion about the Word.
My opinion about the Word. And
then there is the Truth of the Word.
Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still
prays for you each day)

UPDATE
-Israel – for the time being
there is a cease fire and the clean-up and finger pointing is beginning. Many on both sides have been wounded and some
have died. Pray God protects His chosen
people and land as only He can. Let His
power and love of Israel be demonstrated clearly for all to see and let there
be peace for now. We must be ever
watchful.
·
Rozzy and Jono –
will soon board a plane from Sydney to Vancouver Island to serve on the mission
field to work with the youth in the mid-north coast (the neediest of the Gospel
location in North America). Pray for

·
THANKSGIVING - Louise,
sister of Rachael – has come through her second reconstructive

· Isaias and Judith (Ambassadors for Christ the Philippines) – the
entire Catorce family represent this conservative, Bible-based ministry in a remarkably difficult mission field. They have maintained a teaching seminary and
discipling ministry there for dozens of years.
They are both facing serious health issues and need your fervent prayers. Judith has just come through complicated back
surgery and is recovering. Please visit
their new website: https://afcph.org/ to learn more.
Pray our Father keep these servants strong and restores their
health. They
still need an additional $4,000 for the surgery. Thank the Lord for those who have now donated
$8,000). If you are unable to donate,
please consider sending a note of encouragement to Isaias Catorce, who teaches
and leads the groups at icatorce@gmail.com
