Finally, the Mystical 666

"And he causes all the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one should be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.

"Here is wisdom.  Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man, and his number is six hundred and sixty-six." Revelation 13:16-18

When John wrote the Revelation, the word he used for "mark" and contextually it meant a stamp or impress, not a brand or a cut.  Over my lifetime, many have tried to imagine who the "beast" is or will be by trying to unravel this mystery of the three sixes.  History has witnessed so much wickedness, deception and false prophecy!

The availability of information, instant news and sales pitches based on ad-words of today could never have been envisioned in John's time.  Unlike John, now we face a world where the media drives decisions and desires and has soundly confused most into believing that having is better than being.

The problem:  When we do not know what we stand for (by reading our Bibles, studying and praying) or we do believe what we stand for; and if we do not stand for what we believe, then we are easy prey.  There are many who work to convince us that happiness comes from having stuff.  To get stuff you have to buy it.  To buy it you have to have money.

Money and our identities are growing difficult to protect so we have more commerce and communication about commerce in electronic blips rather than being based on something real.  We have new ideas to ensure we are safe from identity theft.  Technology comes to the rescue so we grow safer each day.  Hummm?

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
