Angry Dragon, Snake, Eagle's Wings + Water

"And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child.  And the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, in order that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

"And the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood.  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon poured out of his mouth.

"And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus." Revelation 12:13-17

"'You yourselves have seen what I (God) did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles wings, and brought you to Myself.'" Exodus 19:4

"Yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagle, they will run and not get tired.  They will walk and not become weary." Isaiah 40:31

Satan is angry, whether we think of him as the dragon (in heaven) or the snake (on earth), his sole purpose is to destroy Christ and the Church that is founded on His forgiveness.  The eagle wings are here to remind us of God's promise:  we have been given the power to rise above temptation (also see I Corinthians 10:13, a good verse to memorise) if we choose to use it.

Satan tempts each of us and the Church to drink from the convenient water from his mouth (deceit and lies) in a world that seems too often like a hopeless desert.  There is always a price to pay for faithfulness to the Lord in the face of aggression and chaos.  But we do not stand alone!

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who prays for you each morning, Darlene
