"When Noah awoke from his wine, he
knew what his youngest son had done to him.
So he said, 'Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants he shall be to his
brothers.' He also said, 'Blessed be the
Lord, the God of Shem; and let Canaan be his servant. May God enlarge Japeth, and let him dwell in tents
of Shem; and let Canaan be his servant.'" Genesis 9:24-27
Well we could spend weeks on these 67 words -- so full of interest. For today, consider how reluctant we all are
to discipline another, perhaps because we know we also make mistakes, as well
as acts of determined will and choice.
In this passage, Ham makes a choice based on the resentment of his
father. Yet the father curses, not his
son, but the son of Ham because he knows, as we all do, that parents hurt more
when they must discipline their children.
Since these few sentences are so "pregnant" with their
message, we will look at another part of what this means for all of us in the
next day or two. As we continue to
explore the foundations of sin in this world.
"Now there are a variety of gifts,
but the same Spirit. And there are
varieties of ministries, and the same Lord.
And there are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all
things in all persons. But to each one
is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good."
I Corinthians 12:4-7
Take care with love, especially His!
