Sin Foundations - Geographic Division

"From these the coastlands of the nations were separated into their lands, everyone according to his language, according to their families, into their nations.  And the sons of Ham were Cush and Mizraim and Put and Canaan.

"Now Cush became the father of Nimrod; he became a mighty one on the earth.  He was a mightly hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, 'Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.'  And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel and Erech and Accad and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.

"From that land he went forth into Assyria, and built Nineva and Rehoboth-Ir and Calah, and Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. -- And the territory of the Caananite extended from Sidon as you go toward Gerar, as far as Gaza; as you go towerd Sodom and Gomorrah and Admah and Zebolin, as far as Lasha.  these are the sons of Ham, according to their families, according to their languages, by their lands, by their nations." Genesis 10:5-6, 8-12, 19-20

This passage is actually seen to have been written after the Tower of Babel dispersion and amazingly enough (don't you just LOVE God for His attention to detail in His Word!!?) Genesis 10 is seen a most "remarkably accurate historical document.  There is no comparable catalogue of ancient nations available from any other source.  It is unparalleled in its antiquity and comprehensiveness."

Dr. William F. Albright (non-believer) said, "It stands absolutely alone in ancient literature, without a remote parallel, even among the Greeks, where we find the closest approach to a distribution of peoples in genealogical framework...The Table of Nations remains an astonishingly accurate document." (Recent Discoveries in Bible Lands, article appended to Robert Young's, Analytical Concordance to the Bible (New York:  Funk and Wagnallis, 1936), p.25.

Once they were divided, they could compare.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene
