By Richard Cathers (2 min 12 sec)

“Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;

“ ...and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him us, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.” James 5:13-18

At twelve, I was a complete, rejected failure. That first morning I reported to my classes at Simpson Junior High School right in the middle of the school year. I dreaded every step. Then, near the end of that first, very long day, I reported to yet another class room. Who I met there was one of God’s angels who helped usher me into His kingdom.

Doris, my new English teacher, was a beautiful, blond woman, who over that year, transformed me with what I thought was encouragement, but behind the scenes, she and her wonderful husband, Owen were calling on the Lord every morning from their ‘war room’ -- and I was one of their prayers.

Doris became ‘my second Mom’ and one of my real Mom’s best friends. Doris taught me so much and demonstrated faithfulness under pressure and over time...lessons, I try to remember every day. She and Owen have both passed into Glory now, but the example they left stamped in my heart, will live forever.

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you each day)
