Days Between His Death and His Resurrection?

By THE BEAT by Allen Parr

Enough was sufficiently enough!

“After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, ‘I am thirsty.’  A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth.

“Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘it is finished!’  And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.” John 19:28-30

Why did He have to die in the first place?

“For where a covenant is, there must of necessity be the death of the one who made it.  For a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while the one who make it lives.  Therefore even the first covenant was not inaugurated without blood.

"For when every commandment had been spoken by Moses to all the people according to the Law, he took the blood of calves and the goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you.'

"And in the same way he sprinkled both the tabernacle and all the vessels of the ministry with the blood.  And according to the Law, one may also say, all things are cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." Hebrews 9:15-22

For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit’ in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water.” I Peter 3:18-20

Where does the Bible say about where Jesus was for those three days?

“But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.  Therefore it says, ‘When He ascended on High, He led captive a host of captives, and He gave gifts to men.’

“(Now this expression, ‘He ascended, ‘ what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth?  He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)” Ephesians 4:7-10

What did Jesus say happens when you die?  Where do you go?

“”One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, ‘Are You not the Christ?  Save Yourself and us!’  But the other answered, and rebuking him said, ‘Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?  And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.’

“And he was saying, ‘Jesus remember me when You come in Your kingdom!’  And He said to him, ‘Truly I say to you, TODAY you shall be with Me in Paradise.’” Luke 23:43

But Jesus was completely saturated with our sins!

why didn’t He need to go to hell forever?’ by Ligonier Ministries

“For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; nor was it that He would offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy place year by year with blood that is not his own.

“Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.” Hebrews 9:23-28

So if He was saturated with all our sin, why didn't He have to go TO Hell?

Because He is the only One who ever lived a sinless life, and this ‘value’ makes all the difference!

Let’s no longer be confused or deceived by those who would love to argue these points and fail to address His Truth!

Take care with love, especially His, Darlene (who still prays for you each day)
