“Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said, ‘Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?  Now gird up your loins like a man, and I will ask you, and you will instruct Me!

“’Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?  Tell Me, if you have understanding.  Who set its measurements since you know?  Or who stretched the line on it?  On what were its bases sunk?  Or who laid its cornerstone, when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?’” Job 38:1-7

I love the chapters of Job starting with chapter 38, because if you’ve managed to wade through all the pain, suffering, opinions and debates, the disdain, shifting blame and excuses, God brings it all together in such a startling way.

In Wishful Thinking by Frederick Buechner, he writes, “God doesn’t explain.  He explodes.  He asks Job who he thinks he is anyway.  He says that to try to explain the kind of things Job wants explained would be like trying to explain Einstein to a little-neck clam … God doesn’t reveal His grand design, He reveals Himself.”

And THAT, my friends, is what the Bible is all about.  God loves you and sent His only Son to give you the only way to spend eternity enfolded in His forgiving love.

Take care, your servant and friend in Christ, Darlene (who prays for you each morning.)
