SURVIVORS

"On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; all day and all night they will never keep silent.  You, who remind the Lord, take no rest for yourselves; and give Him no rest until He establishes and makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth."  Isaiah 62:6-7

"Now Jesus was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not lose heart, saying, 'There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God, and did not respect man.  And there was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him saying, 'Give me legal protection from my opponent.'

“And for a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, 'Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, lest by continually coming she wear me out.''

“And the Lord said, 'Hear what the unrighteous judge said; now shall not God bring about justice for His elect, who cry to Him day and night and will He delay long over them?  I tell you that He will bring about justice for them speedily.  However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"  Luke 18:1-8

When this series was written (2001) it was surprising to note the launch of a new type of game show, called "Survivor".  Eight people left in a remote and wild area to win money by being the last man (or woman) standing.

The series proved wildly popular and inspired many spin-offs.  What struck me was how popular it was to play to peoples’ very evil side in such an intimate way -- like commercial wrestling or boxing or even contact sports.  People enjoy feeling the thrill of those who are viciously pitted against one another.

Today, the level of frustration and rage on roads, in shops, at work, in the home or schools has escalated further, leaving people feeling more powerless and hopeless than in 2001.  They take it out on others or watch TV shows that have devolved into the most deplorable and debased scenarios

Jesus taught His disciples that they were the ‘carriers of the Good News’ so others could find rest and peace in their souls and survive for Eternity.  He had no other plan but you and me to build into their hearts and lead them to salvation.  That plan continues to grow increasingly urgent as the world further deteriorates.  Please pray for courage today to share His message of hope and peace with those exhausted by life.

Take care with love, especially His!  Your servant and friend in Christ, who still prays for you each morning. Darlene

  • Nashville Tennessee Tornado – death count now 24.  The city is torn apart, literally.  Please pray for those who have lost loved ones, the rescue workers and those supporting those who have lost nearly everything.
  • Scott getting married March 26th, they will be a blended and Blessed couple.  Thank you for praying all these years for him and his children.
  • Baby Jolie– a year old struggling to recover from meningitis and kidney failure.  Still in hospital.  Her leg wound remains a concern and amputation is still a possibility.  She is responding and VERY SLOWLY getting better.  Many hurdles have been crossed with prayer and great Doctors, with several more to cross before she can go home.  (she will need full-time nursing care) but it could be as soon as two weeks.  Praise the Lord.  Family so grateful for all your prayers.
  • Savannah – has a very long road to travel.  The 15-year-old granddaughter of Cliff and Beth, diagnosed with a difficult-to-treat, psychological disorder with potential serious consequences.  New meds seem to be helping.  She is showing progress with this brain injury.  Pray for her attitude, wisdom for her health carers, patience for her parents and complete healing.
  • USA President Donald Trump – It is our responsibility as Christians to remember God has a plan through this man.  If you doubt the importance of his appointment, just look at how much antagonism there is against him.  Surely Satan is NOT happy and means to thwart God’s plan.  Pray someone helps President Trump understand the true meaning of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, that he will have a driving hunger to read God’s Word for himself and that God sends a Bible-believing Christian to regularly disciple him in the Truth and that God shuts the mouths of the false prophets who circle around him.
  • Fred – is making plans to move from California to Tennessee in the first quarter of 2020.  Pray for his wise attention to details and stamina as he makes this life change.
  • Tracey – Pray Tracey finds a new role to satisfy her and allow her to grow and share her skills and wisdom.
  • Me – The Lord has provided me with a short, 4-week project that will hopefully begin next week.  Thank you for praying.  Laptop still not fixed (if you receive the email version with the full prayer list, the formatting is different (sorry).

PRAY FOR THOSE IN FULL-TIME SERVICE
